Friday's Fancies :: HELLO SUMMER!

Happy Friday & Happy SUMMER!
& Happy Birthday, Dad!
& Happy National Wear Your Lilly Day!

There are lots of reasons to celebrate today, which is good because today we leave the beach -- WOMP WOMP. This past week has flown by and I seriously feel like I just got here.  I ain't tan enough to go back home yet!!
(is it just me or does tanning feel so much more legit at the beach? I feel so lame in my backyard...)

I'm excited to be back in the Friday's Fancies groove & share my summer faves :)
|one| I absolutely love my monogrammed hat from Crystal Faye! Mine is navy blue with white thread. I wore it this past week to go to Bodie Island Lighthouse! Crystal is such a sweet girl to work with, too! Team #shopcrystalfaye all the way!
|two| My vineyard vines hat is my all time fave! I don't know what it is about it. I think I've just worn it in and it is so comfy! I have the exact style shown - color is: slate.
|three| Where would I be without colorful chino shorts? 4" or 5" are my go-to length because they're perfect for me to wear to work! I love J. Crew and Old Navy. I just got a hot pink pair from J. Crew on sale -- only $15! Holla!
|four| I am trying to get better about wearing sunglasses. My eye doctor somewhat scolded me for not ;) Although I don't have these Ray Bans, I would love a pair!
|five| Is there a time of year more American than summertime? I think not. I am absolutely stoked for the 4th of July which is my second favorite holiday! This bow must be in my hair. Another cute one from Devon Alana!
|six| No better way to kick off summer and make your tan pop than with a fresh mani!
|seven| Just like life in general, summer is always better in Lilly. I am loving the Dock Hopper print!
|eight| Of course, my Jacks are my go-to summer shoe! My platinum pair literally go with everything. I am going to wear them down til they're nothing!
|nine| Summer purse essentials? Phone, wallet, KOOZIE! I was the koozie queen at the beach! Lilly koozie found here :) Also love these!!
|ten| Last but not least, I spend many days during the summer in my classic norts. No matter how cute I want my outfit to be, you can never go wrong with norts & a comfy t-shirt! I swear by it!

Celebrate summer today & join in on the FF fun here at {long distance loving}!

Onward to Virginia! Back to the real world! :/
Have a great start to your weekend!

Friday's Fancies: Gingham Gorg!

Gingham has really grown on me. At first I didn't like it, but now I want one of everything gingham!

This week's Friday's Fancies with {long distance loving} has me going gaga for gingham!

Here is my girly gingham outfit of choice:

Friday's Fancies: Gingham Gorg

I love the gingham choices that J. Crew has! (And their chinos that go with everything.) This pink button down is too cute!
The mini mongram and flower pearl studs from Baublebar and Fossil wrap watch and clutch are the perfect accessories - making a statement, but in a neutral way.
Of course, Jack Rogers Hamptons Navajo sandals complete any summer outfit!
Incorporate some gingham into your outfit today!

--------------------------------------

I've been so busy the last couple of days moving into my new apartment! It is going to take some getting used to...very different than my townhouse from the past two years!
I'll be posting pictures at some point :)
Until then...send some "small closet organization" magic my way!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Friday's Fancies: Wedding Guest

First off: life lately. I feel like this week has been stressful, for some reason. The weather has been much cooler with rain showers and I just feel like I've been dragging my feet. On Thursday we had our walking field trip (total of 4 miles) and the kids complained the whole time. It was both physically and mentally painful.
I also have had terrible luck seeing Steven pitch recently. I haven't seen him throw since June. It's sad for me to not be able to make it to the games he throws in...such as today's! I would be there if I could in a heartbeat.
Lastly, this weather has been giving me a headache every morning! There is almost nothing worse than waking up with a headache. I'm ready for some sunshine.

Okay, enough with the blabbing :)
Time to return to Friday's Fancies!

Friday's Fancies: Wedding Guest

I just love this dress from ModCloth! They have adorable pieces for reasonable prices!
I really want to get into some of these statement necklaces. I found an adorable one shopping last weekend but decided against it! I love BaubleBar's pieces and (again) their prices! This White Bead Bib necklace would be a great starter to my collection! Plus - if you create an account, you get $10 off your first order! And they have free shipping. I'm sold.

FYI - that Essie polish is: delicacy :)

What are you wearing to this summer's wedding festivities?

Friday's Fancies & Special Announcement

Happy Friday!

Today's Friday's Fancies with {av} from {long distance loving} is:
Memorial Day Weekend!

If I had time and money to shop and somewhere fun to be, here is what I'd wear!
Memorial Day

I am a huge fan of red, white and blue. I also love me some chinos from J. Crew, featured in this set!

Be on the lookout Monday for a fun, summer announcement! :)

Happy Memorial Day weekend!

Friday's Fancies: Derby Days

Happy/Not happy Friday!

Happy part: I have one exam down and one (online) to go :)
Not happy part: I have been switched to timeline!! I blogged about my fear of this earlier...I think I just jinxed it by doing that. While I have enjoyed seeing old posts - and realizing that I joined Facebook in 2005...that is a long time ago! - there are also some things that I didn't want to be reminded of!
Kind of weird that all of that information is still lurking on the internet, when you think about it...
I wonder what Facebook will come up with next!

Now I get to pretend that I'm headed to the Kentucky Derby!
When I hear the word "derby" I think of three things: big hats, Lilly Pulitzer and horses.
My Friday's Fancies includes two of those three things!

Derby

I just love this Peggy dress in Mariposa...I think this print looks great in every style!
Add on some straw features, pearls and Jacks and we're off to the races.

What would you 'deck out' in for the Derby?

Don't forget to enter my giveaway!

Friday's Letters & J. Crew Pastels

HAPPY FRIDAY, Y'ALL!

I'm excited that it's Friday because that means I am ONE week closer to summer. I'm only a little bit excited about being done with school...
Tomorrow I'm running the 3.2 for 32 race in the morning, relaxing at home and then giving tours for "Hokie Focus" Open House which is this weekend. Needless to say it's going to be a very busy weekend in Blacksburg...

Today I'm playing along with two link ups!
First, a new one for me...

Photobucket

Dear Blacksburg,
Why must you insist on changing seasons daily? 58 one day and 84 the next is seriously putting a damper on my spring cleaning and wardrobe selections.

Dear Baseball,
Can I have my boyfriend back in a timely manner, please? I know sometimes he likes you more than me, but I kinda sorta miss him.

Dear Voice,
After six days of being gone and causing me lots of awkward situations, thank you for almost being 100% returned!

Dear Nose/Throat,
After 8 days of being sick, you two can stop your funny business now. I'm through with it!

Dear Sbarro,
Why must you start baking pizzas at 9:00 am? You smell so good but pizza this early is somewhat socially unacceptable.

Dear Little Puppy I saw at 7-11,
Why do you belong to that creepy old man buying a 24 pack of Natty Light and cigarettes? You are too cute for that and should make a quick getaway and run home to Maple Ridge.

Dear Lilly Pulitzer,
I love you soooo much, but why must your sizes vary so much? It makes my online shopping addiction a bit more challenging than I would like.

Dear HokieHighs,
Thank you for providing me hours of entertainment and a flood of tears from laughing so hard. If you are a Hokie, were a Hokie or know anything about our campus/lifestyle/town/etc, you are going to want to see this. {make sure the page loads all the way to see the motions!}

Dear Essie,
Thank you for creating an exquisite line of nail polish. As much as I hate your price tag, your amazing colors and catchy names always win me over.

Who do you need to write a letter to, today?

I'm also linking up for Friday's Fancies!
This week's theme is Pastel Pretty and mine is completely J. Crew pieces.
I love pastels and think they look great together!
My favorite pastels are in the pink/coral color scheme, but in the springtime I really love them all :)
Pastel Pretty

Have a wonderful weekend!

Lots of Lilly Lovin'

It's official.

Lilly is making individual state prints for all of my VA, FL, MD, NC, SC and GA girls! Originally they were going to pick only five prints, but they chose six! Yippee! Naturally, I am super excited about the Virginia one.
They announced on their Facebook page (and probably elsewhere) that they will start with Murfees and will start selling as soon as they're ready!
I gotta start saving my moula for that!

I also decided to incorporate Lilly into this week's Friday's Fancies!
This week's theme, Flower Power, is perfect timing with all of the spring-like weather we've been having!

Flower Power

When I think Flower Power, I think Lilly! Almost all of my favorite prints incorporate some sort of flower.
The Ricci shift in the bottom right is in a new print called Fresh Cut. I love it!
Here is another one of the newer flowery prints called Dot Dot Hop that I am in love with:

Which is your favorite?
How do you rock flower power?!

Speaking of Lilly, it's down to the last hour and a half of their time on Rue La La! Click here for an invite and quick, shop!

Friday's Fancies: March Madness!

HAPPY FRIDAY!
I am so happy that I made it to today. Yesterday's post so short & sweet because my day was crazy busy. I had class, online chats, info booths for Relay, work, our Hokie Ambassador date auction, hung out downtown with Brittany and the bake sale for Relay at night!
At least it wasn't a lot of "work" to be doing, just places to be.

Quick Sidenote:
Today is an awesome day in Blacksburg.
In support of VT Relay For Life, an event I am very involved with, our Moe's has generously offered that for today, 100% of the proceeds are going to VT Relay!!! 100%!!
In addition, the first 200 people in line are getting free burritos for a year. One a week, for a year.
As of 4:00 am there was already about 130 camping out downtown! It's INSANE! I'm so excited!
I'm going to do some crowd control later and obviously get me some Moe's...
if you are anywhere close to Blacksburg, you should stop buy and get something!

Now, today's Friday's Fancies is March Madness!
My school's team didn't make it in...womp. Steven's school did make it in - and beat Duke WHAAAAT - but unfortunately could not make it to the Sweet Sixteen.
Either way, I made an outfit for both teams :)
March Madness

The OPI polish for VT is Y'all Come Back Ya Hear? and for Lehigh is Suzi Loves Cowboys. I have both of these colors and love them!
Of course I had to add a bow for my hair...what's a sporting event without a bow?
Yes, it's called MARCH madness, but this weather has me dreaming of July! That's why I included shorts & Jacks for these outfits!
Lastly, no outfit is complete without some pearls.

Is your team still in? Hop over to Alison's blog to see other gameday outfits!

Happy weekend!

Friday's Fancies: Luck of the Irish! + Sweet Tea Paperie Fab Friday!

I am happy to say that I'm a quarter Irish and I love St. Patty's Day!
My favorite thing to do is go to Macado's! They go all-out for St. Patrick's Day with traditional Irish snacks, green beer, and they have neat t-shirts and pint glasses you can buy.
Hopefully I'll get to go sometime on Saturday (even though I agreed to babysit that night)...maybe for lunch?

Anyway, if I were to be going out, here is what I'd wear:
St. Patty's Day

When I think of green, I think of gold, especially at this time of year!
I think this simple yet flirty outfit would be so fun to wear downtown...and it would leave you enough room to add some festive green beads!

What are my fellow Irish girls planning to wear out on Saturday?
Even if you aren't headed to a party - you better be wearing green so you don't get pinched!

I'm going to be honest - I do NOT wear a lot of green. For some reason it's just not a color that I think looks great on me. If I do wear it, I usually have another color on too -- like pink ;)

Lastly, to put a little pep in your T.G.I.F. step, go shop Sweet Tea Paperie for their Fabulous Friday deal!
25% off Boatman Geller Lucite Trays
with code FABFRITRAY
SO cute! Don't miss out!

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Friday's Fancies & OOTW

Today's Friday Fancie with {av} was supposed to be a blog swap where you are paired with another blog & you create a look for them! I decided not to participate this week, but I might the next time!

If you chose not to partake in the swap, the theme was either create-your-own, or Winter Wonderland!

Since today feels more like Spring, I decided I'd go ahead and imagine there is snow on the ground, school is cancelled, I have a big cup of hot cocoa and the whole day to myself!

Here's what I'd wear :)

Vest, jewelry, leggings, bag are J. Crew
Shirt/moccasins are L.L. Bean.
Random Mittens
Top Shop scarf

P.S. I love mittens.

This Friday I'm also joining Rachel to share my Outfits of the Week!
This is such a good idea! I don't do OOTD's very often, so this is a good excuse. Let me know what y'all think & maybe I'll try and do them more often! It would help if I had an easier way to take the picture...sorry about my awkward iPhone-ness.

Also, first of all, you will have to excuse the weird splatter/smudge on my mirror. Last summer I was spraying on suntan lotion & didn't realize it hit my mirror...it doesn't want to come off.

Second of all, you need to know that I have outfit A.D.D. Sometimes I wear two outfits a day because I get bored, cold, hot, itchy, etc. It's a miracle if I wake up, put on one thing and actually stay in it without changing before I leave, let alone stay in it all day.

I also sometimes change for work because I don't want to wear a dress/skirt. Sometimes I do, but these days when I get out of work it's cold! Plus I have touchy-feely Preschoolers to worry about.

Monday

Shirt: LOFT
Cardigan: Old Navy
Scarf: Old Navy
Jeans: American Eagle
Boots: Target

Yes, I mix black cardigans and brown boots. I also mix gold & silver. I like it.

Tuesday

Shirt: LOFT
Jeans: American Eagle
Boots: Rack Room
Peacoat: Old Navy

I love that coat. If y'all need a good 3/4 sleeve, mid-length coat look for this one! It might be leaving stores so maybe you'll catch it on clearance :) I got it during a super save event for only $30!

Wednesday

Blouse: Old Navy
Cardigan: J. Crew
Pants: Old Navy
Flats: Old Navy

This was taken at HAE :) Behind me is the reading loft in my Mom's library.

Thursday

Shirt in both: LOFT
Cardigan in both: Target
Scarf: Gift
Jeggings: Lauren Conrad for Kohl's
Flats: Old Navy
{my favorite} Boots: Rack Room (Steve Madden look-a-likes)

I wouldn't have normally changed that outfit to work, but I promised a kindergartener I would wear my brown boots so we could match :) You don't want to disappoint a five-year-old!

Friday

Left (school):
Dress: Old Navy
Jean Jacket: Old Navy
Leggings: Target
Boot Socks: LOFT
Boots: Rack Room

Right (work):
Shirt: LOFT
Jean Jacket: Old Navy
Pants: J. Crew

Of course, that's just what I have on for work now...but I have one more hour so WHO KNOWS what I'll actually go in.

Okay, so clearly I shop a lot at Old Navy. Whoops.

Even if you didn't take pictures all week, take one today and share! :)
Hope this post wasn't too fashion-y!
Happy Friday!

Friday's Fancies: Pinterest Edition

This is my second post today! I had fun venting this morning & now I'm ready to share my post for the 60th Friday's Fancies!

Today's theme is to recreate an outfit you've seen/liked on Pinterest or in the blogging world.
I chose this picture I have on my fashionista board on Pinterest for my inspiration:

 I created this:
Perfect for baseball games :)

I am very ready for some summer-time-clothes-wearin'-weather.

Hop on Polyvore & link up to share how Pinterest has inspired you!

Also, be sure to check out Katie's blog for an awesome Marley Lilly giveaway! :)

Friday's Fancies & The 5 Year Old in Me

First of all, I'm linking up with {av} from {long distance loving} for this week's Friday's Fancies! COLOR CRUSH! Today (and really all of the time) I am crushing on coral -- gold -- pearl. If it were summer time and I had somewhere fun to go, I would definitely recreate this outfit.
What color are you crushing on? Hop onto Polyvore & share!

Today is Friday the 13th! EEK! I'm actually kind of superstitious, but not with Friday the 13ths, more like with sports things or if I use a pencil for a test & did awesome I'll use it for the next one. Weird stuff like that.
Anyway, today is going to be anything but unlucky for me...
Here's why...

via Pinterest
That's right. Beauty & The Beast is being re-released in theaters, today! If I'm being honest, I love Disney movies and Belle happens to be my favorite princess.

I was even Belle for Halloween one year:

I believe this is 1st grade!

It's in 3-D which I'm not totally thrilled about but I don't care! I've convinced Steven to go with me to a matinee showing and I cannot wait! Here's what I'll be wearing:

Thank you Forever 21!

Any other Belle lovers out there?

Friday's Fancies & Get to Know Me

I've got some time to spare so this post is going to have a little extra :) Thank you in advance to those of you who make it through the whole post! :)

First - linking up with {av} @ {long distance loving}! Her blog is one of my favorites. Even if you can't relate to a long distance relationship, that isn't all her blog is about! For example, the Friday Fancies :) Definitely go check it out!
This week's theme is Best Foot Forward. So I might be obsessed with bows, and maybe I can't decide between gold & silver, but these are the shoes (and accessories) I would love to pair with that dress! Y'all go hop onto Polyvore & link up!

Next...I've seen a lot of bloggers doing "get to know me" questions for their newest followers. I think this is a great idea! I know when I find a new blog I always try and read a few posts back to try and understand what's going on in that blogger's world. I've been looking for questions to use and I'm going to borrow Pink Zin's questions that she posted this week! Feel free to join along in this, too :)

1. What time did you get up this morning? Set my alarm for 9:30! My brother was leaving today so I wanted to make sure I was up in time to say bye.
2. How do you like your steak? Medium well. I hate to see pink but I can't stand it burnt.
3. What was the last movie you saw at the theater? At the big theater I saw Young Adult. At The Lyric (our $5 movie theater downtown) I saw Puss in Boots! Definitely liked Puss in Boots way more. It was so funny!
4. What is your favorite TV show? Modern Family! I laugh so hard watching that show. The show that I love but isn't on anymore is Friday Night Lights. I'm currently watching it on Netflix! It's so good. I also really like the medical shows (Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice), Desperate Housewives, The Bachelor and American Idol!
5. If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be? Ideally on some tropical island, but I would miss my family.  Realistically, somewhere in the South. I really love the North Carolina coast and Charleston, SC.
6. What did you have for breakfast? Oops. Nothing. Actually, I had a molasses cookie. I made them last night! I'm really bad about skipping breakfast...I'm just not that hungry in the mornings! It's something I am working on.
7. Do you wear glasses or contacts? I've worn glasses since kindergarten and contacts since 6th grade. I primarily wear contacts throughout the day unless I'm sick or being lazy. Once I wore my glasses to work and the kids were in shock! It was pretty funny...they said I looked smarter!
8. What food do you despise? I don't particularly like sushi, mushrooms, olives or anything very hot/spicy! I'm a wimp.
9. Favorite Place to Eat? The Cheesecake Factory! My favorite place at home to eat is either Sal's or Olive Garden....I love my Italian food.

10. Favorite dressing? Caesar is my go-to...I'm not too fancy! I also really like apple and raspberry dressings, though.

11. What kind of vehicle do you drive? Jeep Compass. However, I don't drive to school! Talk about stressful...I take full advantage of our bus system for that! I'm so thankful for it - saves me lots of money on gas and time/stress finding a parking spot!
12. What are your favorite clothes? Comfy clothes...jeans, solid tee, cardigan, scarf. Yoga pants, cute t-shirt. In the summer I would love to live in a sundress and flip flops everyday!
13. Where would you visit, this weekend, if you had the chance? The Outer Banks!
14. How many tattoos do you have? None.
15. Where would you want to retire? Close to my family!
16. What is your desktop photo? I change my background all the time depending on time of year/occasions/etc! Currently it's this picture that I found on Pinterest:

17. Where were you born? Norfolk, VA. We were living in Va Beach at the time.

18. What is your favorite sport to watch? Baseball :) However, football is a close 2nd.

19. How many siblings? Two brothers!

20. Favorite pastime/hobby? Blogging, Pinterest, Scrapbooking, cleaning my room, shopping, watching shows/movies on Netflix.

21. Coffee drinker? Not a huge one! I do frequent Starbucks, though...

22. Are you a morning person or a night person? Morning person! I love sleeping in but it's much easier for me to wake up early than stay up late. I also love getting stuff done early rather than waiting around all day. During the semester, I go to bed by midnight almost every night! Grandma status...

23. Do you have any pets? Yes...I guess technically she belongs to Mom, but she is still my baby that I love to spoil!

Sadie

Happy Friday! :)

Friday's Fancies: Lilly Pulitzer!

Lilly Pulitzer
I'm participating in my first Friday's Fancies with {long distance loving}! She has a Lilly Pulitzer giveaway going on, so be sure and check out her blog for details! :)

Here are the details of my Polyvore (my first one...don't judge me!) including pieces from Lilly Pulitzer's Jungle Glam collection.

1. Joy Tunic Dress. This dress is adorable and I absolutely love the pattern! This is from the Jungle Glam collection.
2. By The Beach Bracelet. I love charm bracelet styled bracelets...does that make sense? This one has all of my favorite things from one of my favorite places in the world...the beach!
3. McKim Sandal Patent Ostrich. This flip-flops are adorable and the brown allows them to go with almost everything! The circle design gives it a little sass, too.
4. Pink Tomato Sea Coral Critter Earrings. These are so fun! The coral color is great and I like that they have the design of a stud.
5. Glam It Up Clutch. Love the gold metallic of this clutch. I can see myself grabbing it for a night out with many different outfits!
6. Resort White Horsin Around Critter Earrings. These are so fun :) I love wearing a simple outfit and statement earrings. These would be perfect!
7. Ritchie Dress. I am sooo in love with this Hotty Pink Let's Go Bananas print. I also like the long-sleeves! I don't have many cute, long-sleeved dresses. This is from the Jungle Glam collection.
8. Coral Hinged Bracelet. LOVE this bracelet! I don't have many bracelets and I have no idea why, because i love them. This one is simple and has a hint of color which helps you to wear it with a colorful outfit. I think I would pair it with the Ritchie Dress!

Whew! I hope y'all liked my choices :) The Polyvore was fun to do, but I think I need some practice!

We're safe and sound in Norfolk...had birthday dinner at Max & Erma's, then went and saw a movie! Fun night! Tomorrow we're going horseback riding - not something I would associate with the 757 but I'm super excited! I've been 3 times before and I had a lot of fun. Hopefully I'll have time to post later! If not, I will be back Sunday :)

Happy Friday!
