On April 13th we went to one of the BEST weddings I've ever been to! My older brother's best friend Corey married his other best friend Dayne. James has known Dayne since high school and James and Corey were roommates at Longwood University.
A verrryyy long story short, James brought Corey & Dayne together and the rest is history! They are now newlyweds! James was the best man and I WISH I had his speech on film. It was so wonderful.
I had wayyyytoo much fun eating, drinking, laughing and dancing the night away with my family and all of the people there. It's fun to go to weddings where you know lots of the guests!
Anyway, here's a few pictures to recap!
Their program {love the colors}:
These flowers at the end of the rows of seats were so gorgeous!
The bride standing strong as the wind pulled her veil/her whole body!:
Married!
Gorgeous!
Obviously I lovedddd this! Took a picture before they even had the sweet tea and lemonade in there!

Let's get this party started!
Table 20! Seriously love the flowers!
Fun favors {that Sadie tried to eat the next day...}:
FUNFETTI! Definitely my kinda wedding cake. Oh, and a beer. What a combo.
I cannot wait to see the professional photos when they're done! We literally did not leave the dance floor. A great mix of oldies, new jams, square dance songs, etc. I love weddings that turn into dance parties! They are so fun!
What are your favorite wedding styles? Dance parties or a more "chill" setting?
I have a good feeling about February. Short 'n sweet month. Plus, Valentine's Day!
2. Hitting The Road
Nothing too exciting. Steven and I are going to meet halfway for the weekend in Fairfax and I'm bringing my roommate to stay with one of my former roommates at her apartment in Arlington! She goes to GW for graduate school which is where my roomie wants to go! She's going to check out the campus/area and see what it's like! Although we're already sure she'll love it.
As for me, I'm still waiting on graduate school news...waiting is TOUGH!
Anyway, I'll be gone for the weekend enjoying a baseball-free weekend! Can't wait! Last one for a long, long while.
3. Red Velvet Puppy Chow
WOW! I love puppy chow. This takes it to a new level.
Check out the recipe here! I think I'll try and make this!
4. Puppy Fever
I almost got a puppy this week, but it ended up not working out. Now I have puppy fever!
I am desperately in search of some sort of white Bichon, Poodle, Maltese mix! Either a Bichon mix or a Maltipoo! The puppy I was going to get was a small (5 lb) poodle mix. She was so precious.
Let me know if you know any who need a new, loving home ;)
5. Super Bowl XLVII 2013
I gotta stick with my boy Tyrod//the east coast on this one...GO RAVENS!
I'm back from my trip to Pennsylvania! I had so much fun, as always.
I'll admit -- it isn't easy being 6 hours away from Steven all year, but it's worth it. Our LDR is something I've come to accept and live with. It isn't ideal but at least I always have something {trips to see him} to look forward to.
All day Saturday was spent here:
The baseball field. Surprised? Me neither.
They had a triple header which was so painful, but at least we made it home for the second half of the VT game. SIGH -- don't get me started on that game.
We made sure to go to my favorite place for lunch on Sunday:
"The Shiny Place", as we call it, is our favorite diner. There are lots of diners up there, but this is our favorite. They have the best food & desserts! We got a slice of carrot cake but I was digging in to that SO fast I didn't even have time to get a picture...whoops!
We didn't do anything super special or out of the ordinary, but honestly, that is okay with me. I would rather order pizza & watch Puss in Boots {yes, that happened} than drive somewhere because being together is all I really care about.
Enough mushy relationship talk for now.
Now, it's time for OCTOBER!
I am so happy it's October - although I wish it hadn't started off with rain. I officially feel "fall-ish"...I'm going to go buy 3 Leaves candles for the apartment and go to the pumpkin patch this weekend!!
We only have one home football game this month. Kind of weird, but I'm okay with it since I have lots to get done!
It's also officially only 35 days until this ship comes home from her final deployment with my big brother on it... :) :) :)
I promise to be back to somewhat regular blogging very soon!
Even though my classes start back up on Monday, I miss blogging. I miss reading your blogs and I miss hearing from you!
On Sunday, I return to you :)
For now, I am spending time with this guy, who is leaving on Saturday:
The end of the summer is always tough for me.
But I'm going to enjoy the next 24 hours for everything they're worth!
We're also celebrating our "official four years" together. I put that in quotes because we've really been a couple for four and a half//almost five, but our official claim as bf/gf date is this weekend.
Sorry...that probably doesn't make any sense whatsoever!
1. When I wake up in the morning, the first thing I do is, turn off my alarm, put on my glasses and turn on the TV (already set to channel 6) to hear the weather .
2. I can hardly wait for next week at this exact time. I will be DONE with this semester...and I'll be a senior .
3. The quickest way to my heart is taking me to The Cheesecake Factory because they have yummy yum yum cheesecake and we don't have one around here so I don't get it that often .
4. A little known fact about me is that my Dad was overseas when I was born and he didn't get to meet me until I was about 5 months old - he got a nice little telegram sort of note telling him I had been born .
5. The best part about my job is getting to giggle about things that only a 6-year-old could think is funny. their laughs make me laugh .
6. Something I just couldn't live without is my big comfy bed .
7. Something useful that I wish I knew how to do is needlepoint! I could make some killer gifts if I knew how to .
I found out today that I'm going to go to Annapolis tomorrow to see Steven!
They are playing at Navy. One of Steven's brothers is at the academy, so there will be some competition going on...
Even though I have my Navy ties, I still gotta root for my boy :)
Switching things up this Friday for Fill in the Blank Friday with Lauren @ the little things we do!
1. My greatest strength is my work ethic & creativity. I also do well with entertaining children...it never gets boring .
2. My greatest weakness is worrying too much & trying to make everyone happy .
3. People always compliment me on my handwriting & outfits .
4. If you found me procrastinating you'd probably find me on Pinterest or Netflix .
5. The most cozy place in all the world is anywhere that i'm cuddled up with sadie & steven .
6. Something new that I tried recently was mini babybel cheese...nom nom .
7. This weekend I would like to see Lehigh beat Lafayette :) .
This evening I am headed to an acapella concert with my friend, Brittany! The group we are seeing (a VT group) has been around a long time. I remember in high school going to watch them perform and now I still go to every concert as a college student! Lots of good memories :)
In the morning I am off to Pennsylvania for another weekend of double headers! As I said, Lehigh is playing Lafayette which is their big rival so it should be exciting.
While it is a long time in the car, I probably won't be able to see Steven for another four weeks due to Easter, HA obligations and Relay For Life.
What a fun weekend I had! I'm going to share it with you in pictures [and captions] because I know pictures are more fun to look at, rather than reading words. Or is that just me?
Brought out the "redneck wine glasses" for the party weekend
Hokie jersey as one of his presents! Gotta represent.
This is the apartment building they live in. It's so neat/fancy/old school on the inside.

Jason and I conquered a 1000 piece puzzle!
All in all it was a fun-filled, yet relaxing weekend with my family. What I didn't get pictures of (but what we also did) was go to the movies, ate at California Pizza Kitchen, did some shopping and went to Trader Joe's!
Sometimes a weekend away from home, but still with your family, is what you need!
Here are some giveaways that I am so excited about!
Summer Wind is hosting a Tervis tumbler giveaway! I have an 'S' tervis but would love to add to my collection! I love these tumblers!
the Sea Island Madras stocking! How. Freakin. Adorable. I love anything pink!
Make sure you go enter those giveaways, and check out the blogs, before they end!
**TTOD: Today, I am thankful for warm clothing. This morning, there was a cold wind blowing as I walked to class. What would I have done without my warm socks, boots, sweater, and Colombia fleece jacket? I was am very lucky.
Can y'all believe I am just now sitting down with enough time to blog about my weekend?! I can. I feel like I've been going, going, going non-stop since Friday. SB was able to come home for his fall break Friday-Today and we have just had the best time imaginable. Besides the pictures I'll share, we really just spent time together with our families just being normal! My favorite :) I'm so thankful he was able to come home - usually he doesn't get a break from baseball. I'm a happy girl!
The game was amazing. It was certainly a battle towards the end but we rallied behind our Hokies and it paid off as we took the WIN! It was seriously one of the most exciting games I've ever been to. It was also SB's first game since high school! I think he picked a great one to come to :)
VT 38 -- Miami 35
After probably the best Virginia Tech game I've seen my whole life!
We went golfing after church on Sunday and by we, I mean Steven and his twin brothers. There is no way this girl is going to golf...I stick to putt-putt! So I was the caddy! SB actually won the game - I say it's thanks to my good luck ;) It was just such a gorgeous day, I couldn't pass up tagging along...plus I got to be the photographer and met a new little furry friend.

The pumpkin patch was so much fun! The farm is only about 20 minutes away from where we live so it was super convenient to go on Sunday afternoon after golf. There we so many people there!

What a bromance
I love the baby pumpkins
You can buy some without going to the ridge
I felt like it went on forever!

We got some of their homemade ice cream before we left - so yummy!
Speaking of ice cream, before SB left today I took him to the Frosty Parrot after lunch - our new self-serve yogurt shop...that I may or may not have already been to 4 times...DANGER!
We split an Island Vanilla/Blueberry Tart mix!
He was so excited to be there - who wouldn't?
Sorry about the photo overload...I think pictures are sometimes the best way to explain things, rather than words :)
But you know what's even better? A video. I want to leave you with the reason I LOVE being a Hokie [from the game on Saturday]:
I'm Sarah. Hokie alum. Teacher. Virginia gal. I love my small town, being outside and genuine laughter. I believe in hope, love, and date nights at Chick-fil-a.
Thanks for stopping by! xo
