Friday Five

1. Hallelujah!
It's...
It's been a LONG week & I am so happy to see ya, Friday!
2. Doubling Up
Higher Ed Center where I have class
Tomorrow I'll begin my second graduate course. It's held on 3 Saturdays from 9:00-3:30...not exactly what I want to be spending my weekend doing, but it's only 3 times so I guess it's not that bad???
This one is Inquiry in Mathematics - hopefully I don't have to do a lot of math because I am pretty much terrible at anything over geometry or basic algebra... :)

3. Lilly @ TJ
I was so excited to find some cute Lilly stuff at TJMaxx last week! Our TJ rarely has Lilly, although I've found some stationary-ish things in the past.  In addition to this, they had organizing bins & a tray and plates in another print! It was hard not to snatch it all up! I wish our TJ had clothing.
4. Running + Yoga
I know yoga and pilates are different, I just thought this was funny!
I need to incorporate some yoga stretches into my routine because my hips have been hurting & I read that "yoga for runners" really helps! Anyone have any tips?
5. Bubblecake
ABSOLUTELY PUMPED to announce Bubblecake is coming to the NRV! There are already 2 locations in Roanoke (that I visit as frequently as possible) and they recently announced that they are opening one in Christiansburg. So excited for this!
My favorite cupcake is the Tiffany:

Happy Friday!

HELP! Graduation Advice, Please :)

The countdown now reads: 44 days left until graduation!
On May 17th, I will walk in both my university and department graduation ceremonies. I am so excited, it's unreal.
I am in the midst of creating announcements and I will be sure to share them here!
However, I need some help with some other decisions I need to make! Hopefully y'all can help me!

1. To decorate or not to decorate?
I have seen the cutest graduation caps on other blogs & pinterest. I can't decide if I want to decorate mine or not! Right now I'm leaning towards yes, decorate...any advice? What sort of paint/pen should I use? If I print out something, how do you attach it to your cap??
I was thinking of putting my monogram & maybe some message? Maybe a bow? Maybe an apple to represent me being a future teacher? I have no idea!

2. What to wear!?
I know I am going to wear a dress, but I am stumped on what dress to wear. My gown is black. I have a strapless, white eyelet dress OR a Lilly dress OR another solid color dress. This may require it's own post later on! Right now I'm leaning towards Lilly. Advice??

3. Flat sandals or wedges?
This is another tough decision. I'll most likely be doing lots of walking, so I can't decide if I want to be comfy in sandals (Jacks) or be a little more dressy/cute/tall in wedges? What do y'all think?

4. Did you carry something with you?
I'm thinking that I'll want my phone with me, maybe some chapstick or something...did y'all carry a clutch or anything with you? Or did your outfit have pockets? I guess this will be something to consider when choosing my dress!

5. Miscellaneous
Anything that you wish you had with you/hadn't done/had done?? Did I miss something I need to think about? I am up for any and all advice!

Thanks, friends! I appreciate your help!

Happy Wednesday!

a) I don't understand any of this.
b) I use GFC and Blogger Reading List, not Google Reader...am I the only one? Apparently those aren't going away. Just Google Reader is.

c) This is a helpful blog post

d) Someone help me figure it out so I can keep on reading y'all's blogs!

weekend recap!

Can you believe it's the last week of June already!?
Summer seriously needs to slow down. Although I am excited to be a senior and move on in life, I absolutely love the summer time more than any other time!
I just love that everyone is in a happy mood, the cool breeze is warmly welcomed and WATERMELON is to be found everywhere. Fact: I love watermelon. Almost too much. We bought one on Saturday and I've already eaten 1/2 of it.
This could be bad.

I also love the fun events that summer brings! I attended the first big one in Blacksburg - Summer Solstice Festival - this past weekend and it was wonderful. We headed down around 1:00 with Sadie to watch a steel drum band and stayed for about 2 hours. It was very hot so we didn't want to keep Sadie out there for too long.
She is a very energetic, sweet pup who really just wants to run around and make friends and play! It's too bad that we couldn't just let her run free. Although she whined to sniff everyone and everything, I think she had fun just being out of the house on the gorgeous day!

As we were leaving to take Sadie home, we walked through the craft vendors. There were some adorable handmade coasters, jewelry and felt play food for children.  There were some unique lawn fountains, map coasters and greeting cards.  Then, there was a tent with vintage clothing, all mixed up.  It looked almost like a thrift store had set up a mini shop - they even had some bags and such.
I wasn't planning to purchase anything, but then something colorful caught my eye.
A vintage Lilly Pulitzer piece. A dress - best described as a polo shirt dress - for $10.
WHAT! Not my ideal style, but I love that it's so old.
I had no hopes of finding something I would like at that booth, let alone finding something Lilly. I was blown away. I have no idea how or when it got there but I'm glad I was the first to spot it!
It's definitely been worn, but nothing seems to be wrong with it. However it's a little too long for my liking so I'm going to have it altered to just above my knee.
* Can anyone help me to name the print? I tried to search online but nothing came up.

After grabbing something cold to drink & dropping off Sadie at home, we headed back down to the festival for drinks, more music and the 5K race!
The 5K went really well! It started at 8:30 pm so the sun was setting and actually at the end it was practically dark. We ran with LED lights. I ran and Mom walked, then once I was finished I went back and walked/jogged the remainder with her. We both did great!
One of the local bands I like, The Key West Band, was playing to end the night.
This event made me excited for our next big, annual festival, Steppin' Out in August!

Today, after we slept in a bit, Mom and I went to the lake for a couple of hours. I love having Claytor Lake, one of Virginia's State Parks, so close to home! It only takes about 20-30 minutes to get there.

Unfortunately after about two hours it started to drizzle and then a scary cloud rolled in, so we decided to call it a day. I'll definitely be back soon, though!

Now it's back to work/baseball time!
