Simply Saturday: Things I'm Loving

Happy Saturday!
  • I'm loving that I motivated myself to get up at 7:30 this morning and went to Jazzercise! It was a great workout.
  • I'm loving that my mom and I found an awesome chest/dresser piece at the thrift store (oh yeah!) for only $80 that looks like new!
  • I'm loving that July 4th is only two days away. Besides Thanksgiving and Christmas (which I feel like everyone loves, because there isn't much not to love about it), Independence Day is one of my favorites! I used to be deathly afraid of the fireworks but now I love them.
  • I'm loving the new dress I got from Target on Thursday. I have it on right now!
  • I'm loving the Sweetened Iced Passion Tea from Starbucks. Yum.
  • I'm loving that I finally get to go watch a ball game tonight :) It's been a week -- crazy, right?! ;) I miss that kid.
  • I'm loving Skype and texting and appreciating the fact that I live in a world of such modern technology. Thank the Lord.
  • I'm loving angel food cake + strawberries + a dab of cool whip. Can you say delicious? Can you say summertime?
  • I'm loving my sweet pup Sadie who brought me the newspaper this morning after me only asking her once! She is so smart.

I hope everyone has a fun and safe holiday weekend :)

Simply Saturday: Obsessions

It's Saturday & I'm patiently waiting for my laundry to be finished. Later I'm going to the Summer Solstice Festival downtown with Sadiebaby.

To pass the time, I was contemplating the recent obsessions of mine:
  • PINTREST. This can be considered more of an addiction than obsession.
  • Jason Aldean...'nuff said.
  • Luke Bryan...'nuff said.
  • 5" shorts from Old Navy. Time to be classy, "short shorts" are in the past...
  • Finding the perfect summer haircut. I hate to get my hair cut, but I want something fresh for summer...I have been stalking people to find the perfect do!
  • Paint colors. I want to repaint my room at home...I just can't decide between Kansas Grain (light yellow), Bridal Rose (subtle pinkish redish), Rose Linen (more pinkish but still soft) and Lavender Lace (light purple)
  • Themed Rooms. I am dying to get some themes going...my room at home I had wanted to do beach theme, but turned that into my bathroom which was a success! My townhouse is harder to incorporate a theme because I'm not allowed to paint the walls. I suppose I will have to rely on wall hangings and fabrics. So far I have dark wood furniture and a blue quilt (but with pink paisley sheets...hehe). I will need to work on that before I move! I think I'll either go beach themed again, because I have two cute beach things for the wall, or keep it blue/neutral. Decisions, decisions...I just need my own house so I can pick and choose for more than one room!
  • Fresh fruit. I bought a humongo watermelon (my favorite) the other day & it's delicious! Made a fruit cocktail with that, grapes and cantaloupe. Yum :)
  • The new Death Cab CD...I want that!
  • Father's Day. I am going to see my Dad tomorrow! In addition to FD, it's his birthday on Tuesday. Knowing he doesn't look at my blog, I can share his gift with y'all. I got him a grilling set, some retro Budweiser pint glasses and a print of Mabry Mill. The print was made not by sketches or anything, but lots and lots and lots of little dots that made up the picture! It is SO cool.
  • Lastly, my job. I have realized that I have such a great job. I work with great people, my director works around my schedule and the kids, well, they can pretty much turn any day into a great day :)
There ya go. Hope y'all have lovely weekends! Put on your SPF!

Simply Saturday

My Summer Reading List:

1. The Lucky One - Nicholas Sparks
I am only a couple of chapters away from finishing this one! It is sooooo good. I absolutely love his books - I could read them all day, every day. This one I particularly recommend because it's being turned into a movie that will be released in January 2012! Go get it :)

2. Redeeming Love - Francine Rivers
This is one that my pal Jessi over at Take Heart; bought for me and I'm not finished with yet! If y'all don't know, I have a tendency to start lots of books around the same time & have trouble finishing them. However, I really wanna get to this one. I'm about 1/4 of the way through and it's so interesting! Nothing I would have ever picked up myself - which I LOVE. I love being recommended books because it opens my eyes to new authors and new genres that I may never have explored before.

3. Gods in Alabama - Joshilyn Jackson
This was a thrift store find. Occasionally, I'll pop into the Goodwill or the YMCA and pick through their book collections. You never know what you're going to find! I am always looking for any Sparks novels that I don't already have, or just anything that looks like a good summer read. This one caught my eye because of the cover & the title. I'm excited to see how it is!

4. Best Friends Forever - Jennifer Weiner
This was another thrift store find. I love this author, so I figured for 75 cents, yeah I'll take it! It appears to be a little bit comedy, a little bit girly, and a little bit dramatic. Sounds good to me!

5. The Rescue - Nicholas Sparks
Another Sparks novel that I have on my shelf waiting to be read! I can't get enough of this guy...

6. At First Sight - Nicholas Sparks
Again...I can't get enough! I'm on my way to reading them all. BTW, if you're a fan, (you may already know this) but he has a new novel coming out this fall! It's called The Best of Me. Naturally, I can't wait for it :)

Can't promise you I'll make it through all of these by the time I'm back in school, but a girl can dream, can't she?
Have y'all read any of these? If so, let me know what you thought of them!

On another note, I'll be taking a break from my pool time because yesterday I started to experience Polymorphous light eruption. Sounds strange, right? It's basically an itchy rash that results from sensitivity to sunlight. Typically it happens in the early summer when your sun exposure increases...which would spot on describe my situation. I've been laying out for about 2 hours or so every day this week! I did wear sunscreen (of course) and layered on some tanning oil which has a little bit of SPF, but yesterday and today I am soooo itchy! I got some allergy medicine & some Aveeno Hydrocortisone anti-itch cream and it's working nicely :)
Please be careful out in the sun, people! Wear your SPF & get a nice floppy hat! ($10 at Target. holla.)

On top of my regular seasonal allergies, I am so exhausted with all of this medicine stuff! I absolutely love summer, but I hate all the rather unattractive counterparts it brings along with it.

Oh well, off to play with the puppy now.
SB has an off day tomorrow & is coming home for his little brother's graduation! Can't wait! :)
xoxo
