Ten on Tuesday

Hey y'all :)
Thanks for the sweet words yesterday.
The vigil was amazing. Emotional and extremely well done, as always!
waiting to start
after the names had been called

I know it's late, but I wanted to post my Ten on Tuesday with Roots and Rings!

1. What was the last gift someone gave you for no reason at all?
Steven surprise visit was a gift in itself. It would have been a long, boring weekend without him.

2.What is the last gift you gave someone for no reason at all?
Hmm. Probably cadbury mini eggs for my mom. Her/our favorite.

3.What is your favorite thing you like to do alone?
Go shopping. Is that weird? I just think I'm the only one who has enough patience for shopping with myself...I take for-ev-er.

4.What is your favorite thing to with a group of friends?
Eat, go to Walmart, go downtown...typical Southwest Va activities

5.What is on your agenda for tomorrow?
A LOT...an 8 am, giving a tour at 9:30, class at 11, getting ready for Relay 1-3, work at 3 and handing out Relay shirts at the Team captains meeting at 7! I better get to bed pronto...

6.What would you do tomorrow if you didn’t have any responsibilities?
Sleep...sleep...sleep...watch Say Yes to the Dress...sleep...sleep...sleep

7.What is something you miss from your childhood?
Being able to wear whatever I felt like and it was always cute! Oh, and 90s boy bands.

8.What is something you don’t miss at all from your childhood?
Hoodrats in Virginia Beach. Just kiddinggg. I don't miss my HUGE glasses that I had. They weren't that big, but on a second grader...they look like bug eyes.

9.What is your favorite word?
Fancy.

10. What is your least favorite word?
Moist.

Those were super random. I loved it.

Exciting Things and Ten on Tuesday!

Happy Tuesday!

First of all, yay or nay on the blog design? I felt like some spring cleaning was due on my blog. I found this awesome *freeeeee* template from Jessica Sims Design! Love it.

Second of all, I want to apologize to those that follow me on Twitter for bombarding your feeds with "vote vote vote for VT" tweets! You see, last year we made it to the Top Two but ended up losing so this year we were determined to win it all.
And no big deeeeeal but:
we won!

Honestly, I have no idea what is going to happen or who is going to come, but I am glad that we won. The other schools were recruiting UVA and others to help them get more votes, which I don't think is very mature, so I'm glad that we came out on top! Today is a day that I'm glad I'll be here next fall!

Now for some Ten on Tuesday questions :)
 1. Do you prefer fabric or plastic plasters? (or Band-Aids if American)
Plasters? Weird. I prefer fabric ones because the plastic ones seem to come off way too easily. Especially in awkward places like fingers or knees.

2. Do you prefer gel pens, biro or fine liners for everyday writing?
I use Sharpie pens. I just bought a new pack with FOUR new colors :) Including coral...I love it.
I also love staedtler pens!

3. Do you have a fear or needles/dentists/blood (if all three, which is the worst) and is there a story behind it?
I hatttteeee the dentist. I just hate teeth and everything about them!
I have always hated it but once I needed a filling and they hadn't numbed me all the way and THAT feeling is enough to make me cry/cringe/vomit for life.
I have such high anxiety when I go, especially if it's for any sort of procedure.
It doesn't help that it smells disgusting when you walk in.
I can't even handle wiggly teeth - when kids have them I bolt the other direction.
Steven has a huge fear of needles, the poor wittle baby.

4. Do you like jelly?  Do you eat it at any time other than when poorly?
I love strawberry jelly!! I'm not sure what "when poorly" means...I guess I am on a college girl budget, but I would eat jelly even if I were a billionaire. Yummy.

5. What are your Easter traditions? (if not Christian, insert your own meaningful festival here and tell us about that instead)
Dressing up, going to mass, and we used to have scavenger hunts to find our Easter baskets. Not so much anymore, but we still have baskets! We also have a family Easter dinner! Recently we have started a tradition of having a "Too Tall" bunny in our baskets. The one that is too tall for the box. It cracks me up!

6. What’s your favourite book that you have read so far this year?
The Hunger Games

7. Do you have any magazine subscriptions or recommendations that we should know about?
I am only subscribed to People, Runner's World and I think Glamour...
It's hard to keep up with them during school, but I really love People! You don't get everything online that you do in the magazine. It's worth it. It's the only celebrity magazine that I will believe!

8. Favourite etsy store (if you know the owner IRL, also include your favourite that you didn’t originally know IRL)?
I don't know any Etsy shop owners IRL but here are some of my favorites:
Preppy Paper Girl, Bright, Bold and Beautiful, [amanda catherine] designs, Naptime Diaries, L Whelan Designs, My Pink and Green Garden, Oh, Louise!
...I could keep on going! I love Etsy.

9. If you had play money (£100/$150) that could only be used on shoes, what shoes would you buy?
Jack Rogers! Ready for summertime.

10. If you were going pet shopping tomorrow, what would you choose?
A puppy. Or two. A Boston for Steven and a Bichon Frise or Maltese for me.

 Happy Tuesday!

Ten on Tuesday

A late post, I know, but I wanted to link up with Ten on Tuesday!
Share your answers over at Roots and Rings :)

1. How do you feel about April Fool’s Day?
I think it's strange. I don't like being tricked so a whole day where it's okay to trick me? What the heck?

2. Do you like birds?
NO! Or rather, I like them, but hate flocks of them. When they fly overhead of me I freak out...it's gross! I'm okay with having birds as pets (Steven's family has one) but in town they scare me. Seagulls are also terrifying in a whole other category.

3. How often do you wear your hair in a ponytail?
Not very often. Always if I'm working out, but every day it starts down. Sometimes by the end of the day (especially after work) it will end up in a ponytail but I never put it up like that to start the day.

4. Do you believe in love at first sight?
Not love. Attraction/lust/feelings, yes. I just don't know how you can "love" someone without knowing anything about them!

5. What is your favorite appetizer?
Spinach artichoke dip with pita! NOM.

6. What is your favorite brand of heels?
Uhhh, n/a? I hardly ever wear heels, to be honest! I will for formal occasions but since that is somewhat rare, I don't spend a lot of money on heels. I usually get them from a regular store.

7. Are you a picky eater?
Not particularly! I know what foods I like and don't like...the 'likes' outweigh the 'don't likes' for sure. However, I will say that I prefer my foods not to touch...unless it's spaghetti & peas, then I mix it all together.

8. Is there a tv show you like that nobody ever talks about?
The Little Couple. Bill & Jen are so sweet and such a great couple! Also, Secret Millionaire - I think that's what it was called? I watched it online and I cried every episode. Basically, a millionaire goes to a town/business that is struggling and helps them out and then confesses they're a millionaire and hands them a big, honkin' check. Tears.

9. Do you prefer hot tea or cold tea?
Cold!

10. Gayle or Peeta? (If you don’t know how to answer, read The Hunger Games.)
Peeta. However, I will say Liam Hemsworth is way more attractive.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday tomorrow!

Ten on Tuesday

Since I'm short on time today, I'm switching things up & linking up for Ten on Tuesday with Roots and Rings!

Here are the ten questions :) Feel free to answer them yourself in a post!

1. What did you do this weekend?
Traveled to NC! Read about it in yesterday's post :)

2. Do you prefer short fingernails or long fingernails?
I prefer short unless I'm getting a french manicure for something than I like a little bit of length. Really long nails gross me out though!

3. What is your favorite use for Pinterest?
Outfit inspiration, classroom ideas and DIY ideas!

4. Do you sleep with your mouth open?
Occasionally, yes.

5. Where did you have the best pizza you’ve ever eaten?
Hmmm...that's a tough one. I love pizza from Sal's, a restaurant here in Blacksburg. I haven't branched out much in the pizza world!

6. What do you eat for breakfast on weekdays?
I'm a bad breakfast eater - sometimes I don't eat anything. On weekdays I do something "on the go" since I'm usually heading for class. Usually a granola bar, some trail mix or I bring a yogurt.

7. Do you watch awards shows? Why or why not?
Love them! I like to print out the ballots and make my predictions, I like to see the gowns on the red carpet and I actually do care who wins.

8. Can you whistle? Snap? Curl your tongue? Bend down and touch your palms to the ground?
Whistle - yes, but not very well. Snap - yes! Curl your tongue - yes. Bend down and touch your palms to the ground - not without bending my knees!

9. What email service do you use?
My school email & gmail.

10. What is your favorite outdoor activity?
Either running or playing at the park with Sadie! Oh, and lounging on the beach. That's outside, so it counts, right??

Happy Tuesday!

Indecisive Sarah & Sock Swap! (and TTOD)

Warning! This is a long post! But it's so exciting, I promise!

This is what I get for doing two link ups on one day! I can't decide which to do - Ten on Tuesday or Top 5 Tuesday! I love them both...so I'm doing both!  This is why I am not the person you should go to if you want "no" as your answer!

Link up with Roots and Rings for Ten on Tuesday if you'd like to play along! :)

1. What’s your favorite television show  for each day of the week?
Sunday – Desperate Housewives - been forgetting to watch Pan Am!
Monday – Dancing With The Stars
Tuesday – DWTS, Tosh.O (although it's been getting a little too vulgar for my taste recently!)
Wednesday – Modern Family
Thursday – Grey's Anatomy
Friday – Nothing is on, so I watch Friday Night Lights on Netflix.
Saturday – Football!

2. How many times do you wear your jeans before you watch them?
A million...but really, at least 4 or 5 times! I don't really get them dirty, especially since they usually are stuck in my boots so they don't touch the ground.

3. What is your favorite pasta shape?
Bow-tie.

4. Do you read newspapers?
I don't get the newspaper to my townhouse, but when I go home I sometimes browse. I prefer to watch the news.

5. Do you sleep in socks?
Yes. Sometimes they get kicked off in the night, but I like to have my feet covered.

6. Favorite genre of movies?
Chick flicks! Or girly, romantic, comedy, adventure all mixed together.

7. How do you feel about wrestling?
I'm not sure? I don't like all the weight issues surrounding it, but if that's the sport you choose than go for it. I also think it's weird though when girls wrestle in high school. I would never wrestle a guy like that! Scary!

8. Should men pluck their eyebrows?
If they want to to look clean and fresh, then yes. I think if they look thin and feminine though, that's a little strange.

9. Do you have dimples?
I have back dimples. That's it! Is that weird? I love dimples, though. Especially on babies.

10. Do you like to camp?
I used to like it a lot more than I do today. I went backpacking for two weeks in high school in NM and I think all of that camping sort of made me "camped out". I prefer log cabins if we're going to be woodsy!

Now, for Top 5 Tuesday with Rachel at Just Peachy!

Today's Top 5 is: Clothing Stores (yay!)
Let me start off by saying - Southwest VA has NO shopping!! We have the "basics" but nothing too fancy shmancy. It's sad, but it gives me a reason to go other places and shop :) ex. Charlotte, Short Pump, Tysons to name a few...

1. Target

Target is my go-to when I need something basic or am just looking for a simple, classic top.  Plus, I love just about every other section in the store too...I love that their prices are reasonable and no matter where you go, you're bound to find a Target!  Except Vermont where my good friend Brittany is from...the poor thing!

2. LOFT

I love, love, love LOFT. I am slowly, but surely, building up my LOFT blouses for when I become a teacher and I need to be more dressed up.  I also love their dresses and skirts.  They just have the prettiest clothes! AND we actually have this store IN Blacksburg...not Christiansburg! Y'all this is a big deal...

3. Old Navy

On any given day, I am bound to have something from Old Navy on. I can hardly walk past one without going in.  Sometimes, I'll admit, I walk in and I don't like any of their featured items. However, some days I walk in and I go crazy. At least 45% of my wardrobe is from here! Prices are so, so reasonable and a couple of the pieces you would never guess are from there! They also have lots of cozy socks this time of season...just fyi...

4. J.Crew

J.Crew is so far down on my list because we don't have one! I know that doesn't stop me from shopping online, but I like "in person" shopping so much better. I always get excited to go shopping in Short Pump, PA and Norfolk because they all (obviously) have a store! I'm sure there are closer ones, but I don't have too much time for traveling just to shop. Anyway, like everyone else, I love the J.Crew style. It's classic, clean, put-together and adorable. They also have a nice men's selection, too! Unlike the first three choices (Old Navy is so-so) I definitely wish I had a J.Crew closer to home, or at least a Factory Store!!

5. Forever 21

Forever 21 usually stresses me out, to be honest! There seems to be clothing EVERYWHERE and everything is so (usually) cheap that I just want to pick up more than I should. However, this is another store that we don't have, so when I find one, I usually pick up one or two pieces.  They have lots of basics, lots of super cute dresses (although sometimes they can run short) and tons of jewelry.  I love XXI for their prices and for having a huge selection! *Sidenote: In Norfolk, they have a two-story one and it was fantastic. Everything was actually organized! It was a lot less hectic. I may or may not have purchased a Beauty and the Beast sweatshirt...

Woohoo! What a jam-packed post this is...and it ain't over yet...

My sock swap package came in the mail this weekend!

I was so excited! Ashley paired me up with Anna and I could not have asked for a better sock swap partner! I got to know her a little better and I love reading her blog! Y'all should go check it out :)

My package! Yes...I had already opened it before this picture!
Her adorable note
Look! It matches my clipboard! :) Meant to be.
My two pairs of TALLLLL socks :) Perfect for boots!

Anna was spot on! I absolutely love my socks & my 'S' stationary!!
In our emails, I never even told her I'm obsessed with stationary...I think these two will go perfect with my collection!

Most of my stationary
Like I said...I love stationary. I love to write snail mail! My favorites are the Vera stationary mailbox and the yellow box at the bottom - it's a tri-fold card and I found it at a store in Asheville!

THANK YOU ANNA! And thank you Ashley for setting up the swap! It was so fun! Can't wait for Anna to get the socks I sent her :) Let's just say, we have similar taste!

Lastly,
TTOD: Today, I am thankful for my job. I feel so lucky to have a steady, part-time job while also going to school.  For those that don't know, I work as an Aide in a before/after school & summer program at a local elementary school - with Pre-K - 5th grade students. It's the best job I could ever ask for! I've been there since July of 2010.  Today, I spent almost 7 hours in class...and 5 hours at work. I would rather go to work than go home and sleep! It's such a blessing to look forward to going to work...I know far too many people who dread that idea.  All of the children are wonderful in their own unique ways and it makes me excited to become a teacher.

Okay, I think this post is finally over...
...yep, it is!

Study Break: Ten on Tuesday & Giveaway Alert

Taking a study break from my crazzzzy day to bring you my Ten on Tuesday and giveaway alerts! Most of which y'all probably already know about, I'm just out of the loop ;)

First - Ten on Tuesday with Roots and Rings! I love this link up. I never know what the questions are going to be. It's exciting.

1. What is the worst compliment you have ever received?
That my haircut made me look younger. I'm pretty sure these days I'm trying to look older, people! Not like a six-year-old.

2. Did you/would you tell everyone the name of your baby before they were born, keep it a secret, or not choose until after they were born?
I would probably keep two in mind and if people really wanted to know, I would share it with them.  I definitely want to keep the gender a surprise though...as Momma says, that's one of the only true surprises in life. And I love surprises :)

3. What is your favorite candle smell?
Apple/Cinnamon/Spice...a mixture of those. YUM!

4. What is the best birthday/Christmas gift you received when you were pregnant or the best birthday/Christmas gift you gave a pregnant person that was really appreciated?
I am not and have not ever been pregnant, but I guess I have given a pregnant person gift before, I just can't think of what it was. Right now I would probably give them a gift certificate to the spa! I mean, who wouldn't want that.

5. Who was your favorite teacher?
This is a toughie. I would rather pick my favorite teacher from each level of school! In elementary school, I was lucky enough to get awesome teachers each year. My favorite was probably 5th grade, though...Mrs. Bradley! We still keep in touch today, although she has since moved to Missouri.

6. What is the best game/activity you have ever played at a baby shower?
Not sure why these are all baby related...but, I have only been to probably two baby showers. I don't remember them too well. I always like guessing the baby's birthday/weight/height/gender/etc. That's fun!

7. What was your major in college and did you end up using it in your career?
I am currently majoring in Human Development. I better use it in my career! I know I ain't walking across this big 'ol campus for nothing.

8. What is a beauty product you swear by?
Mascara to look awake [on days like this] and classic Chapstick. Can't go wrong.

9. What is the kindest thing a stranger has ever done for you?
I don't know?! The thing that comes to mind didn't happen to me, but I did witness it.  While I was waiting for the Megabus in the rain, there was only one small tent for people to stand under.  It was, of course full, and thankfully I had my umbrella.  As people started walking up without umbrellas, there was one guy under the tent who kept coming out with umbrellas to let those people borrow.  He didn't work for Megabus either - just had some extras!  It was really nice.

10. If you could recommend one new baby necessity, what would it be?
Oooomg I do not have a baby.  I have heard of the new monitors though that have a video camera so you can actually see the baby? That's awesome.

SO y'all need to check out these awesome giveaways!
Coffee at Nordstrom is hosting a Monogram Chick giveaway! An adorable monogrammed recipe box. So cute!!

And...Emily at Life of Emily! is hosting a Marley Lilly giveaway!! I cannot get enough of Marley Lilly, they have the cutest stuff in the world. You can win either a scarf or pashmina!

Monogram. Obsessed. No big deal.

Back to studying...weekend recap is up next :)

Ten on Tuesday & Giveaway

It's such a nice day in VA today. It feels like summer and where am I? You guessed it...stuck in class! :( At least I get to spend time in between class outside :) and in Panera to study and have nom noms

Linking up with Roots and Rings for Ten on Tuesday :)

1. You're packing for a week long vacation, do you pack ahead of time or wait until the last possible minute to pack?
I wait until almost the last possible minute. I usually pack the day/night before we leave!

2. Are you a light or heavy packer?
HEAVY! There is no doubt about that. I have never gone anywhere with only one bag...not possible.

3. What are your favorite road trip snacks?
Trail mix, Chex Mix Bold Party Blend, and Red Bull

4. Do you take any reading material along?
Yes. I usually take a novel or two (in case I get bored of one) and magazines. I don't usually get carsick so I can read on the road, but I lovvve to sleep in the car...so usually, my reading material doesn't get too much attention.

5. Do you prefer to drive or fly to your vacation destination?
If I had the choice, I would fly! It gets you there quicker and you don't have to worry about traffic/car troubles/putting mileage on your car. Instead you get to worry about delayed flights and lost luggage...haha

6. What is your favorite time of the year to take your vacation?
Summer :) Or going somewhere warm during the winter, since I don't like to be cold!

7. Where is your favorite place to vacation?
The beach! Which is of course not my brothers' or boyfriend's first pick...lucky me :P

8. You are vacationing in the mountains, what is your favorite thing to do while there?
Make a campfire and then make smores!

9. You are at the beach for your vacation, do you like to take it easy on the beach or play all day in the water?
I am definitely 50/50 on this one. I love going to the beach and I usually start off laying out tanning/reading, then when I get really hot I run and jump in the water and swim around and catch waves. Then I go back and lay out to dry and have a snack. Then, repeat. I LOVE IT!

10. While you're on vacation, do you prefer to eat out every night or cook some of your own meals?
Both. If it's a short stay, I prefer to eat out because it's easier and one of the best parts about going somewhere on vacation is trying their signature restaurant spots! If it's a long stay (1 week or more) it makes sense economically to make your breakfast and maybe lunch, then go out for dinners.

Ahh...now I'm in the mood to vacation! If I could teleport, I'd be in OBX right now.
Momma and I are trying to plan a trip to Austin, but it's difficult to find a good amount of time to go that fits everyone's schedules! It's tough once everyone is out of high school!

Lastly, one of my favorite blogs, Sweet Southern Prep, is hosting an awesome giveaway! A Kelly Ripa Skinny Sideways Cross Necklace from Gems in Vogue.
It's different from the traditional cross necklace but I like it! Go check out her blog to enter before Sat, Oct 29 :)

Also check out just another preppy shopaholic for another great giveaway! A design-your-own pashmina scarf from Marley Lilly!! LOVE THOSE!

I hope everyone can go out and enjoy the sunshine while it lasts!

Ten on Tuesday and HELP needed!

Linking up with Roots and Rings for Ten on Tuesday! It's her 100th T.O.T. post, so you alllllll should join in to celebrate! :)

1. How do you take your coffee?
I only really drink coffee when I go to Starbucks! I don't like "regular" coffee yet. Weird, I know.

2. Do you prefer soft or crispy chocolate chip cookies?
Soft and right outta the oven.

3. Do you wear a belt everyday?
Not everyday. Maybe when I'm older, but in my college phase...no way. Today I'm in yoga pants!

4. What is your favorite color combination?
Coral and white. Navy and cream. Maroon and orange ;)

5. Do you like sour candy?
Not if it's too sour, and even if it isn't I don't like to eat a lot of it. I like the red sour patch kids best...only the red.

6. How often do you do laundry?
Every weekend or every other weekend. I won't lie, I usually let it pile up and then I do two or three huge loads...I blame it on college.

7. Did you ever wear braces?
Yes, and they were ridiculous! So maybe I didn't wear my retainer and then I lost it, but still...my teeth shifted fast. Shouldn't two years of braces lasted longer than that? womp womp.

8. Are you good at Roman Numerals?
Noppppe. I guess I know 1-10. and XXI b/c of Forever21. haaaaa.

9. What is your favorite form of social media?
Facebook would probably be my favorite, although with all of their recent changes, I've been getting on less and less. However, SO many people use FB that it's hard not to log on (ex: one of my committees sends out info on FB). It's also nice because it's super easy to get in touch with almost anyone in the world. Of course, I am in love with Twitter and blogs. I wish more people would get Twitter accounts!

10. How do you feel about chin dimples?
I dig it. Not as cute as cubby-baby-cheek dimples.

All day I've been searching for a one-shoulder, dark/fall colored dress to wear later this month to a wedding. Any suggestions of where to look? I've tried Mod Cloth, Francesca's Collections, ASOS, J. Crew, Piperlime, Gap, Kohl's, New York & Company, Banana Republic, dressbarn, LOFT and Forever 21...i think that's it...
I need some help! There were some definite possibilities, but I am still hesitant to buy it online. I also want it to be useful later & I don't want to spend a bajillion dollars.

Let me know if there are any secret, affordable (under $100) dress websites I'm missing out on :)
I'm thinking of driving to Roanoke on Friday to look. That's the closest place to find "real" shopping, and it does not even compare to what some of y'all probably have at home, I'm sure! I wish I had time to drive to Charlotte, but...that ain't gonna happen.

This week I have to work three of the morning shifts (7:00-8:30). It was a shocker waking up at 6:00 this morning! Typically the earliest I get up is 7:30. On Thursday we have a full day so I'll be running back-and-forth between work and campus all day! It'll be a busy day, but that's alright because...

...the boy is coming HOME this weekend for a visit!! Y'all...this is a huge deal. The only reason he's really come home in the past during the school year is for surgery! I'm thrilled that he is able to come down for the weekend and go to the VT vs. Miami game with me :) Our first Hokie game (while being in college) together! This is what's making this long, busy week go by......

*Sidenote: Today we celebrate the feast of St. Francis (a personal fave)
Prayer of St. Francis
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy;

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life

happy tuesday!

Ten on Tuesday

Happy Tuesday :)

Linking up with Roots and Rings for Ten on Tuesday.

1. What is your dream vacation?
A cruise to somewhere tropical!

2. What has been your favorite trip so far in your life?
It's a tie (indecisiveness) between my spring break trip to Florida where I got to watch baseball & go to Disneyworld for the first time and my two-week trip to New Mexico.

Disney
Philmont

3. If you and one of your best friends could go anywhere in the world for one week, where would it be and why?
Ireland and Italy!! I want to check out where my family came from (great-grandparents). Also, they are very gorgeous countries.

4. Have you ever booked a trip using an online deal? How did it go?
Nope! Occasionally I use Expedia or Kayak, but I don't really consider those deals.

5. What’s your favorite thing to do while you’re on vacation?
Find yummy restaurants and RELAX!!

6. Have you ever missed an opportunity to take a trip that you regret?
SB and his family went to Texas a couple summers ago and I would have had the opportunity to go with them but a family situation came up. So it wasn't really in my control, but I do wish I could have gone!

7. You travel far away from home and get stranded with no way to buy anything, what’s the one thing you can’t live without?
My pillow. I would just sleeeeeep it all away.

8. What’s one of your favorite traveling memories?
Driving to Chicago for my brother's graduation from boot camp...driving to Florida to West Palm....going to Disneyworld...my first plane ride to New Mexico

9. All included resort or backpacking? Why?
RESORT. I've had my backpacking fill in 08 when I went for two-weeks to a ranch in NM. It was an amazing experience, but I would definitely take the resort. I could relax, do nothing, lay out, get massages...ahhhh :) On the wish list!

10. Are you more of a lie on the beach kind of person on vacation, or do you prefer to see the sights?
If I'm at the beach, I definitely LOVE laying on the beach and doing nothing. If I'm in a city or not near any water, then I'd rather see the sights than sit at a hotel or something. I guess I'm a little bit of both :) Absolutely love laying on the sand though!

Your turn :)

Ten on Tuesday

Okay, yes this is more than ten. But I dig it.

Linking up with Roots and Rings

Ten on Tuesday

Linking up with Roots and Rings for Ten on Tuesday.
This week's questions start out with "Would you rather..."
Yikes, here we go!

WOULD YOU RATHER:
1. eat chocolate covered grasshoppers or this freaky squid thing?
After watching that video, definitely the chocolate covered grasshoppers. That squid looked alive! No thank you.

2. never see another movie or never watch TV again?
That is really tough! I'm definitely a movie girl and one of my favorite things to do is go to the movies, so I guess I would have to say never watch TV again...

3. be a superhero with a lame power or a supervillain with an awesome power?
Superhero with a lame power. A lame power is better than no power which is what I have now, right? Plus knowing me, I'd think it was awesome anyway.

4. eat only salty snacks for the rest of you life, or only sweet snacks?
Sweet ones, for sure! Every once in a while you crave something salty, but not more than sweets. That was an easy one.

5. never read another book or never hear another song?
This is a reeeeeally tough one. My mom is a librarian, so hopefully she doesn't get mad - because she does read this blog (HI MOM!) - but I would probably say never read another book. Only because I listen to music 10x more than I read...like walking to class, on a long car ride to keep me awake, at a party, while doing housework...my life would turn very quiet and I might go crazy.

6. be a whale carcass remover or a sewer inspector?
Yikes. I wish I could say neither, but I think I'll go with whale carcass remover. Although that picture was SO sad to look at, I think I would just be gagging/puking the whole time being in a sewer. I'm sometimes sensitive to smells...

7. have no electricity or no running water?
No running water. Yes I'd have to go to someone's house to shower and whatnot, but I can't imagine not having heat or A/C, fresh food or power to charge my phone (sad, I know. But my crackberry holds only a day long charge).

8. be a dog or a cat?
I used to always say cat because they are so soft and cuddly and they get to sleep all day, plus they're seen as kind of delicate and sassy. But now that we have a dog, I would probably say dog. Sadie makes us feel so guilty sometimes...she is spoiled. She usually gets all the attention!

9. always be hot or always be cold?
I. Hate. This. Question. Seriously, how do you answer this? When I get hot I get tired and irritated. When  I get cold, I also get tired and irritated, haha. When you're hot, you can only take so many layers off. When you're cold, you can keep layering on. Hmm...I'm going to say always be hot.

10. be forced to watch all 3 High School Musicals on an endless loop, or the Twilight movies?
Hahaha, sadly I would probably be happier with either of these. Twilight ones are kind of slower though, so I might fall asleep. Is that allowed? I'll go with HSM since I know all the songs so I could sing along the whole time!
*Please don't hate me for that answer!

Okay, that was more difficult than I thought. Y'all should join in too, I'm dying to hear what answers other people would give! :)

My morning class was cancelled, so I got to blog early! :) I also made some waffles and bacon...yummm. It's a rare occasion that I get up to make breakfast.
My room is ALMOST finished. I painted some letters last night that I now need to figure out how to put up on my wall. They're white/sparkly and pink striped! I didn't do much planning with them and kinda just went for it, and I'm happy with how they look!
I'm going to do an apartment/room/college post later. Get ready.

Ten on Tuesday

Linking up with Roots and Rings this evening for Ten on Tuesday! YAY for link ups :)

1. What temperature do you keep your thermostat on during the day?
I think it's at 72. Our bedrooms get SO hot upstairs, so we keep it low to try and cool them off. However then the downstairs turns cold. It's a battle!

2. What temperature do you keep your thermostat on at night?
Same! I would love for it to be less, though, because I cannot sleep when it's hot. I get the worse headaches!

3. In a canister of mixed nuts, do you pick out certain varieties and leave the others?
I prefer the peanuts, almonds, cashews...I probably wouldn't pick up just mixed nuts, but rather get a trail mix of sorts - gotta throw some chocolate in there. Whoops.

4. What is your favorite kind of M&M?
I seriously love them ALL. But my favorite is probably a tie between peanut butter & peanut. Peanut is a classic, so it will probably always be #1. However the pretzel ones are SOOO good. I have been getting them recently since they are fairly new.

5. How do you buy books? (Amazon, bookstore, new, used, electronic, etc)
If I can get them used, I will. I often go to the thrift store and shop through their section. If not there, I usually buy them new at Books-a-Million. I'm not cool enough yet for a Kindle!

6. How do you like your eggs cooked?
I'm actually not a big (plain) egg eater, but I will eat them scrambled with cheese. I jus

7. Can you whistle?
Yes, but not very good. SB is a master whistler, no joke. I'll make him do a video and share it on here.

8. What common word do you always misspell?
necessary, committee... All those double letters mess me up.

9. Are you afraid of flying?
Used to be, but not anymore! My first time on a plane was in 2007. I've done three trips in my life.

10. How often do you go shopping?
Alllllllllllll the time. Mostly because I love Kroger. I try to do one big trip, but the total always scares me, so I do little trips usually.

Y'all link up!
Off to a meeting now, then DONEZO for the day. I'm. So. Exhausted.

Ten on Tuesday

Alright, I'm starting to link up now. Earlier I was borrowing questions from another post but I am now starting...
...with the blogger at Food, Love and Life!

This week's theme is 10 Items on Your Wishlist

1. Travel outside the U.S. I hopefully know this is going to happen one day...I would love to go to Ireland or Portugal!

2. Fatten my Vera Bradley collection. I do have several pieces, but I want to have a cute collection to pass down one day :)

3. Own a big, beautiful beach house that I can return to every summer! I absolutely love being at the beach.

4. Get a Maltipoo :) They are just too cute for words and such lil cuddly bugs.

5. 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee...yes, please.

6. I would love to get a watch! I am turning into one of those "I'm naked without my cell phone" type of people...it's bad. I'm think gold & silver would be good because I am always mixing up my earrings, while I usually always wear a silver necklace and a silver ring.

7. Run a Marathon. Call me crazy, but I wanna be able to say that I did it! I got the half down...now I just need to get the other half done.

8. Go scuba diving! Seriously, don't know what could be better...and preferably somewhere tropical :)

9. Wear a wedding dress with pockets. Dresses with pockets are my favorite! Is that weird? I just love them. It's sometimes the deciding factor if I'm buying a dress.

10. Lastly, I'm going with Food, Love and Life on this one...I would love to have a Longchamp Le Pliage tote but that's quite a chunk of change. They are so cute though, and you can use them anywhere/anytime. One day I'll find $100 on the ground and splurge on one! Or ask really nicely for my birthday? Haha

Well, there ya go folks. Link up if you want and let me know so I can read yours :)

We just got back from the lake - it was so much fun! I'm wiped though, so I'm off watch some Shark Week :) Have y'all been watching? There have been some good ones on recently - kinda scary, but so interesting!! It's on Discovery all week!

Ten on Tuesday

1. What color are your toenails painted?

OPI Feelin' Hot-Hot-Hot! I love this one so much I keep repainting them!

2. What color are your fingernails painted?

Same as the toes! However, I just got a new OPI color that I'm going to switch to tomorrow...
OPI Do you think I'm Tex-y?
3. What is your favorite brand of nail polish?

OPI...even though it's certainly not the least expensive! (Unfortunately)

4. As the norm, do you DIY your nails or get mani/pedis?

Normally I DIY but I used to get them done a lot! Whenever I'm in the mood for a french manicure I get them done because I don't have that much patience (and my hands are shaky) to do them myself.

5. Have you ever had a gel mani? Do you recommend it?

I've only had acrylic but I heard gel are better for your nails!

6. What is the last movie you watched on television? (TV, Netflix, Redbox, etc.)

I'm watching 27 Dresses right now. Love this movie :)

7. What is the last movie you watched in the cinema?

Harry Potter 7 Pt. 2! The midnight showing in Norfolk, in fact.

8. Is there a movie that everyone talks about as if it is a classic but you haven't seen?

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang...The Goonies...A Christmas Story...SB teases me about this all the time!

9. What is your favorite movie soundtrack?

That's a tough one...The Sound of Music is a classic, but (i'm embarrassed) the Twilight saga movies actually have really good soundtracks!

10. Have you ever seen a movie and thought it was better than the book it was based on?

I don't think that's possible...

Y'all can still play along even though it's almost wednesday. Or save it for next week :)
Goodnight, all!

Ten on Tuesday + Pictures

*10 more days until James is home!!

1. What is your cleaning style like? When I'm in the mood to clean, I will clean just about every square inch of the house. However, that mood only comes around once every so often...I do like to keep my room picked up & my bed made though.

2. What is your favorite thing to add to an outfit to take it from casual to classy?
Statement jewelry or heels!

3. Do you like stormy weather?
Yes, as long as I'm not stuck outside! I'm somewhat afraid of lightning.

4. What is your favorite cold treat on a hot day?
Rita's Water Ice :) either Blueberry, Mango or Watermelon.

5. What is your favorite warm treat on a cold day?
Chili and cornbread.

6. Who is your favorite animated character?
Non-human: Stitch.
Princess: Belle.

7. What do you keep your jewelry in?A white jewelry box I got for Christmas.

8. Do any of the rooms in your house have a theme? My room & bathroom are beach themed. My favorite theme :)

9. Do you watch any interior design TV shows – if so, what is your favorite?
Holy smokes, yes. I love House Crashers! I wish that would happen to me. I also like Design on a Dime and Income Property. I can't wait until I have my own house!

10. When was the last time you did something risk-taking?
I haven't done it yet, but I decided to run another half-marathon in the spring! It's definitely a risk because it costs $95 and so I better get my booty into action and get my training plan started! Although I've run one before, this one is a new one, so I don't know what to expect!

Here are some pictures from the weekend :)

It was all about America at Hooker Field Saturday night. Complete with the salute to veterans, fireworks and everything.

I finally got to see SB pitch. I have seen him pitch of course, but all his recent outings have been at games I wasn't at!

After the game I tried being the tall one in this picture!

I wish I could say he was on a step this time but, no...I'm just short. Or is he just tall? Hmmmm...

Sadie being such a good pup at the parade! She loved every bit, except she wasn't so sure about the firetrucks.

SB & I finding shelter from the rain at the parade.

Our mayor, Ron. (i wish we were on a first name basis.) He always rides up there during the parade, however the past couple of years I have been afraid for his life! Once he almost hit the traffic light and this year it started to thunder and lightning...that is not the place I would wanna be! Yikes!

The music/events were cancelled due to the storm, so SB and I sat on the blanket and listened to music while we waited for everyone to get to the hill. Here we are waiting for the fireworks to start!

Fireworks :)

Although we had the huge thunderstorm (that knocked out the power in Dick's while I was trying to buy some shoes!), it was still a great day! As I said before, I absolutely love the 4th of July. We had both hot dogs and hamburgers, played some fun games inside and saw fireworks. I'm satisfied!

Today it was back to the real world. Mehhhh.

Going to go work on James' poster & watch more Bachelorette :)
