Ten on Tuesday + Pictures

*10 more days until James is home!!

1. What is your cleaning style like? When I'm in the mood to clean, I will clean just about every square inch of the house. However, that mood only comes around once every so often...I do like to keep my room picked up & my bed made though.

2. What is your favorite thing to add to an outfit to take it from casual to classy?
Statement jewelry or heels!

3. Do you like stormy weather?
Yes, as long as I'm not stuck outside! I'm somewhat afraid of lightning.

4. What is your favorite cold treat on a hot day?
Rita's Water Ice :) either Blueberry, Mango or Watermelon.

5. What is your favorite warm treat on a cold day?
Chili and cornbread.

6. Who is your favorite animated character?
Non-human: Stitch.
Princess: Belle.

7. What do you keep your jewelry in?A white jewelry box I got for Christmas.

8. Do any of the rooms in your house have a theme? My room & bathroom are beach themed. My favorite theme :)

9. Do you watch any interior design TV shows – if so, what is your favorite?
Holy smokes, yes. I love House Crashers! I wish that would happen to me. I also like Design on a Dime and Income Property. I can't wait until I have my own house!

10. When was the last time you did something risk-taking?
I haven't done it yet, but I decided to run another half-marathon in the spring! It's definitely a risk because it costs $95 and so I better get my booty into action and get my training plan started! Although I've run one before, this one is a new one, so I don't know what to expect!

Here are some pictures from the weekend :)

It was all about America at Hooker Field Saturday night. Complete with the salute to veterans, fireworks and everything.

I finally got to see SB pitch. I have seen him pitch of course, but all his recent outings have been at games I wasn't at!

After the game I tried being the tall one in this picture!

I wish I could say he was on a step this time but, no...I'm just short. Or is he just tall? Hmmmm...

Sadie being such a good pup at the parade! She loved every bit, except she wasn't so sure about the firetrucks.

SB & I finding shelter from the rain at the parade.

Our mayor, Ron. (i wish we were on a first name basis.) He always rides up there during the parade, however the past couple of years I have been afraid for his life! Once he almost hit the traffic light and this year it started to thunder and lightning...that is not the place I would wanna be! Yikes!

The music/events were cancelled due to the storm, so SB and I sat on the blanket and listened to music while we waited for everyone to get to the hill. Here we are waiting for the fireworks to start!

Fireworks :)

Although we had the huge thunderstorm (that knocked out the power in Dick's while I was trying to buy some shoes!), it was still a great day! As I said before, I absolutely love the 4th of July. We had both hot dogs and hamburgers, played some fun games inside and saw fireworks. I'm satisfied!

Today it was back to the real world. Mehhhh.

Going to go work on James' poster & watch more Bachelorette :)

Brought to you courtesy of the red, white and blue

Hot summer night + baseball + watermelon + sweet tea + fireworks = America.

Last night was so much fun!! We got to the game early, which is always good, and found some seats right away. First we were sitting in general admission because the reserved seats we got were in the section (literally) on top of the dugout. We couldn't really see from there, so we toughed it out in general admission (where I got to do some awesome people watching & make funny faces at SB the whole time) and then in the 4th inning we switched to some open seats in reserved section behind the plate.

They had a special 4th of July night so that meant $2 sweet tea, $1 watermelon slices and FIREWORKS! I absolutely LOVED that they played music along with their fireworks. They played about 4 or 5 songs all the way through...it was a legitimate firework display. Very impressive and very fun to be sitting at the field with SB watching!

After all that we didn't end up getting home until 1:00 this morning. It was exhausting, but worth it!

Can't wait for tomorrow! Parade at 2:00, free showing of Remember The Titans at 4:00 and fireworks at night :)

Today I slept in late but then was unsuccessful at finding a glue gun (without going to Christiansburg) and unsuccessful at using a coupon for a smoothie at McDonald's. They said they "don't use those"...!!???!? Not okay with me.
I have retreated back to Maple and am in my comfy clothes about to plop & watch The Bachelorette.
This week my online class starts, so here's to one night of complete freedom :)

Sorry this was so much rambling...I'll be back with fun stuff later ;)

Simply Saturday: Things I'm Loving

Happy Saturday!
  • I'm loving that I motivated myself to get up at 7:30 this morning and went to Jazzercise! It was a great workout.
  • I'm loving that my mom and I found an awesome chest/dresser piece at the thrift store (oh yeah!) for only $80 that looks like new!
  • I'm loving that July 4th is only two days away. Besides Thanksgiving and Christmas (which I feel like everyone loves, because there isn't much not to love about it), Independence Day is one of my favorites! I used to be deathly afraid of the fireworks but now I love them.
  • I'm loving the new dress I got from Target on Thursday. I have it on right now!
  • I'm loving the Sweetened Iced Passion Tea from Starbucks. Yum.
  • I'm loving that I finally get to go watch a ball game tonight :) It's been a week -- crazy, right?! ;) I miss that kid.
  • I'm loving Skype and texting and appreciating the fact that I live in a world of such modern technology. Thank the Lord.
  • I'm loving angel food cake + strawberries + a dab of cool whip. Can you say delicious? Can you say summertime?
  • I'm loving my sweet pup Sadie who brought me the newspaper this morning after me only asking her once! She is so smart.

I hope everyone has a fun and safe holiday weekend :)

Thursday Trends: Summer Sales!

The season of summer + the 4th of July holiday means...LOTS of sales! Two of my favorite stores, Loft and Old Navy are having awesome sales this weekend which I want to share with y'all.

LOFT is having a 40% off everything sale! If you get their emails (which are sometimes annoying...I seem to get a bajillion from them!) you already know about this sale. I love when they do "___ off everything" sales because that way no matter what article of clothing I'm looking for, it's going to be on sale! I picked up the Empire Waist Knit Dress in Parrot Red, a black pair of shorts and a peach colored shirt.

OLD NAVY is having a buy 2, get 1 mix 'n match free sale! Basically, you pick out any 3 items in the store (they don't have to be the same thing) and you get the least expensive item for FREE. Amen to that.

I didn't get anything at ON this time...instead, we headed over to Target where I picked up a light V-neck dress and a matching pair of earrings.

Boy, do I love payday :)

Anyone know of any other good summer sales going on?

The other day, SB and I made it to the Roanoke Elderberry's :)
Blacksburg recently lost their Elderberry's...I have really missed it! Instead of trying a new one, I got my favorite smoothie - Mad's Mango. SB always gets "double blue" which is Blue Banana, minus the banana, and double the blueberries :) Nom nom nom.

This weekend I hope to get some packing done & maybe make a trip to Plato's Closet to get rid of some stuff!
Then...my 2nd favorite holiday is here!! FOURTH OF JULY! I am so, so, so excited. I used to be terrified of fireworks, but now it's seriously almost my favorite holiday. I will be absolutely sure to share some pictures :) I also have the day off of work - yippee!
Countdown to Norfolk/James' Homecoming: 15 days. I am spending it in VA and he is in Spain...what!!?

xoxo
