October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I know we're all bubbling with excitement over fall colors, but this month, I hope everyone has a little pink on somewhere!
As an active participant of Relay For Life, I try to take part in any/all cancer awareness activities that I can.
Aside from wearing pink and pinning a ribbon to my backpack, I want to be able to educate people too:
- In 2011, it is estimated that there will be 230,480 new cases of invasive breast cancer and 39,520 breast cancer deaths among U.S. women.
- Among U.S. men, it is estimated that there will be 2,140 new cases of breast cancer and 450 breast cancer deaths in 2011. (Yes, men can get it too.)
- Equals out to a new case of cancer in 1.3 per 100,000 men and every 123.4 per 100,000 women
More and more research is being done every day while we are all going to class, sleeping and having fun.
The best thing to do is be educated, listen to your body and never miss a mammogram!
Please, do something to support breast cancer research. If not for someone you know who has had it, do it for yourself and your future children.

Here's a video that our local hospital & VT's spirit program and band did for the Pink Glove Competition. Please vote for us!! If you didn't look at the pictures, at least watch the video. It's done to Pink's "Raise Your Glass". It's awesome!!
Sorry for such a long post...there's just so much to share!
Happy Monday and go PINK!
xoxo,
