Tweet Tweet

I used to be allllll about Facebook and thought Twitter was dumb. I figured it was everyone posting what they were doing or where they were constantly. Boy, was I wrong. I signed up and have been hooked ever since. It's more about entertainment, news and being "with it" than I had originally thought.

Here are some of my favorite Twitter accounts (out of many more) that I follow:

Charlie McDowell @charliemcdowell - He writes letters to the girls that live above him. "GAM" stands for Girls Above Me.
For example:
  • Dear GAM, “Not to get all sentimental, but I’m really proud of us for getting into bikini shape this summer.” Hold on, I need a Kleenex.
  • Dear Girls Above Me, “Shark Week is over!? But it was only on for like a week! Oh, wait a minute--” Nope, you already said it out loud!

First World Pains @firstworldpains - Basically, they tweet things that we think of as a "big deal" but when you think about it...there are worse things in the world people have to worry about! They're pretty hilarious.
For example:
  • I took a straw for my drink I got to go, but I bent it trying to open it and now it has a tiny hole in it.
  • The Chipotle person didn't wrap my burrito well, causing its contents to spill and forcing me to eat them with a fork.
  • It's nice outside, but my internet doesn't reach far enough to the back yard for me to watch Netflix on my laptop.

Daily Bible Verse @daily_bible - Plain and simple, posts a verse each day. It's nice to read while I'm rushing to class!
For example:
  • As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. - Ephesians 4:1
  • For everyone who asks receives; those who seek find; and to those who knock, the door will be opened. - Matthew 7:8

OMGFacts @OMGFacts - They tweet interesting, odd, random "fun facts". This isn't a verified account, so of course we're assuming they're true.
For example:
  • Since 1950, Georgia has flown four different state flags. The design was changed in 1956, in 2001, and again in 2003.
  • The first baseball team to put numbers on their uniforms was the NY Yankees in 1929.

The Today Show @todayshow - They post their top stories so when I have class & miss the show, I can follow along with what they're covering! Then I usually go home and get online to re-read the segments I missed that looked good.
You can probably imagine what they look like... :)

The Dark Lord @Lord_Voldemort7 - whoever is behind this is genius. They tweet from the perspective of Lord Voldemort. This was half the reason I got an account in the first place, to follow them! A lot of them sound mean, but like I said...it's supposed to be from Voldemort's view.
For example:
  • The way you make me feel is similar to what someone under the cry oaths curse might feel like....
  • #fightingwords: avada kedavra and expelliarmus.
  •  #Thingspeopledothatgetmemad: exist.
  • "Bullying is for losers" is a TT. Um, isn't calling bullies 'losers' a form of bullying? Your trend fails more than Neville in Potions.
  • Kidz bop? If someone spells 'kids' with a 'z' then the only 'bopping' associated with them should involve them getting smacked in the head.

Some other favorites include: @BradPaisley, @ConanOBrein, @Phillies (play by play during the games, they post the line ups), @dearblankplease, @disney (refreshing quotes!), @omgthatspunny (stupid but makes me laugh), @peoplemag (tweet their stories...I always read this magazine), @PatrickWSLS (weather man)

You can follow me here if you'd like! If I recognize your name, I'll definitely accept and follow back! :) Or leave your names and I'll follow you!
If you follow any that you think I'd like, let me know!

That's all for now. Gotta go rest up for the game tomorrow!

What I'm Loving Wednesday!

I cannot believe it's Wednesday already...this week is flying by! This is a late post. There was an early release today. I also went to a Career Fair. Although I plan to go to Grad school, as opposed to straight into a career, it was still nice to go and explore my options. I had to dress up though, and now I have a blister! Grrrrrreat!

Anyhoo, time for WILW with Jamie.

I'm loving...hearing the kids use their manners. It's music to my ears. Today I also saw three acts of "big kid" kindness, helping out the younger ones. Precious.

I'm loving...The Frosty Parrot. A new self-serve frozen yogurt place downtown :) I hope it lasts a while! Those sort of places are my favorite. I'd much rather go there than a DQ or anything. The only other things we have around are Coldstone, Rita's and Ben & Jerry's.

I'm loving...sleep. Recently I've felt a little wimpy and so I've been trying to go to bed earlier. Yes I feel like I'm 80 years old, but I love waking up at 8 and feeling refreshed. Hopefully I can make a habit out of it!

I'm loving...these OPI colors!
William Tell Me About
Parlez-vous
You're A Doll
Suzi Loves Cowboys
{Sorry, those were really random....I'm getting tired!}

I'm loving...these quotes I found on Pinterest (followme)...

I'm loving...these fall outfits...
Cute!

Simple!

Lovely!

I'm loving...that we have a home NIGHT football game on Saturday :) 6:00 pm vs. Clemson! Maroon Effect! H-O-K-I-E-S HOKIES!

That's all folks :) this old lady is going to bed (ha!)...

Ten on Tuesday

Happy Tuesday :)

Linking up with Roots and Rings for Ten on Tuesday.

1. What is your dream vacation?
A cruise to somewhere tropical!

2. What has been your favorite trip so far in your life?
It's a tie (indecisiveness) between my spring break trip to Florida where I got to watch baseball & go to Disneyworld for the first time and my two-week trip to New Mexico.

Disney
Philmont

3. If you and one of your best friends could go anywhere in the world for one week, where would it be and why?
Ireland and Italy!! I want to check out where my family came from (great-grandparents). Also, they are very gorgeous countries.

4. Have you ever booked a trip using an online deal? How did it go?
Nope! Occasionally I use Expedia or Kayak, but I don't really consider those deals.

5. What’s your favorite thing to do while you’re on vacation?
Find yummy restaurants and RELAX!!

6. Have you ever missed an opportunity to take a trip that you regret?
SB and his family went to Texas a couple summers ago and I would have had the opportunity to go with them but a family situation came up. So it wasn't really in my control, but I do wish I could have gone!

7. You travel far away from home and get stranded with no way to buy anything, what’s the one thing you can’t live without?
My pillow. I would just sleeeeeep it all away.

8. What’s one of your favorite traveling memories?
Driving to Chicago for my brother's graduation from boot camp...driving to Florida to West Palm....going to Disneyworld...my first plane ride to New Mexico

9. All included resort or backpacking? Why?
RESORT. I've had my backpacking fill in 08 when I went for two-weeks to a ranch in NM. It was an amazing experience, but I would definitely take the resort. I could relax, do nothing, lay out, get massages...ahhhh :) On the wish list!

10. Are you more of a lie on the beach kind of person on vacation, or do you prefer to see the sights?
If I'm at the beach, I definitely LOVE laying on the beach and doing nothing. If I'm in a city or not near any water, then I'd rather see the sights than sit at a hotel or something. I guess I'm a little bit of both :) Absolutely love laying on the sand though!

Your turn :)

Weekend Recap & Blog Award

Today I can sum up my feelings in about two words: happy + exhausted. Not bad, right?

Here's a little bit about my weekend up in Pennsylvania!

FRIDAY
  • Drove to D.C. with Momma. I absolutely love D.C. and I miss going there for visits. We've already planned our next trip there for my birthday!
  • Hopped on the Megabus and headed to Philly with a pit stop in Baltimore. I definitely recommend the Megabus for a cheap alternative to driving somewhere. It goes to a lot of major cities, and as long as you have someone there to pick you up, it's great!
  • Scoped out the Lehigh Valley Mall - picked out some Phillies gear and spent lots of time looking at all the new Vera :) Poor SB...however, I did make him laugh because he said something about Vera Bradley would be the death of him and clear out his bank account and I responded with..."There are outlets :)"
  • Dinner at Red Robin! (yummmmmmmmm)
SATURDAY
  • Homework time while SB played baseball
  • Shopping trip at The Promenade Shops (an outdoors mall) - we got some big deals at Old Navy. BOGO 75% off! Mix n match throughout the store. I love having a super smart boyfriend because he thought to go through the line with the expensive items first to get more of a deal...he's so sneaky...but where's the fun unless you can cheat the system? Haha, whoops! Don't tell!
  • Lunch at The Pita Pit and ice cream at Maggie Moo's
  • We went to see The Lion King...again...:) He hadn't seen it yet in the theater, so that was our excuse! But of course I wasn't complaining...
  • Went home and watched some of the Jeff Dunham special...he is hilarious! I've never watched it before. If you haven't heard of him, he's a ventriloquist and he's really good.
  • Took a late night run to the Shiny Place :) (the diner) Grilled cheese...pierogies...omelet...carrot cake...heaven.
SUNDAY
  • This time I went to watch the baseball game (brown v. white) since SB was going to be closing for the brown team. I brought him some good luck and he threw really well! Even though it was a scrimmage against his own team, I still get nervous watching him pitch! Ha! I love it though, and I'm very proud of him.
  • Headed back to Philly to catch the bus (which was running 30 min late...urg) back to D.C.

All-in-all I had a wonderful weekend...the only bad part - it ended too soon! But those couple days were better than nothing <3

Rainy Days and a Blog Award!

Yesterday was definitely one of the rainiest days I've seen in a while. I guess I gotta share a little secret with y'all...yesterday, my mom and I drove up in D.C. My Aunt from OH and my big brother from Norfolk were going to come to the area to spend the weekend, so we made it a family affair! However, I decided to catch the megabus from D.C. to Philly and now I'm spending the weekend with my baseball boy! I haven't seen him since we brought him to move-in which was 4 weeks ago!

Anyway, it rained almost the whole way up to D.C., then as we were driving around the city it was muggy, foggy and gray. As I was waiting in line for the bus, it was pouring...thankfully Momma let me borrow her umbrella, but my poor rainbows got SOAKED.

It rained the whole way up to Philly and then all evening as SB and I attempted to go to the mall & dinner. We kind of just faced it and got really soaked. I, of course, only brought flip flops (whoops) so I might be making a pit stop at the shoe store if it keeps up today!

Wish I had had this outfit instead!

Rainy or not, I'm so glad to be up here. Wednesday/Thursday were very stressful days, with a chaotic day at work & four tests - including my eval tour, which I PASSED! I'm an official Ambassador now.
Anyway, I was definitely ready for a little break and to get out of Blacksburg.

I cannot believe this, but I was awarded the iDig Your Blog Award by one of my favorite blogs Turtles and Pearls!!
Thank the person who gave you the award:
Thank you SO MUCH for this award, Turtles and Pearls! It means so much to me that you are following my blog, and I always look forward to new posts on your blog as well! We seem to have a lot in common, especially our love for our college football teams!
Everyone go check out her blog for some fun posts and great fashion advice :)

Share three random facts about yourself:
1. Yesterday, I think I was more excited to see The Disney Store than any other store in the mall.

2. One of the most important things on my bucket list is to visit each state. So far I've been to 18/50! I don't include where I've only been in an airport...after all, I never technically step foot on the ground.

3. If I had three wishes, they would be: that Maple Ridge would let their residents have pets, for a fridge full of Red Bulls and to have naturally curly hair.

I think those were random enough, huh!?

Pass the award onto five others:
2. Ashley @ Everyday Ashley
3. Meggan @ Lila Grace

Go check out their blogs!

Have a great weekend everyone :)

It's Fall, y'all

Happy first day of Fall :) Unfortunately we're spending it in the rain, but rain is a good thing. (Rain makes corn, corn makes whiskey...)

Of course I'm going to miss the warmth and glow of summer, but the way I look at it is that the sooner fall comes, the sooner winter will come, the sooner spring will come...and then it will be summer again :) It's all planned out.

The first thing I'm excited about doing is going to our pumpkin patch!
Sinkland Farm
I'm thinking I'll go get some baby ones to decorate, and then later get a big one to carve at home. They even have a hay ride you can take to the field.

As usual, here are some pins to celebrate Fall :)

xoxo,

Thursday Trends: Lisa Frank

Do y'all remember Lisa Frank? I hope so, or else I'll feel a little awkward. This was my Vera Bradley (of sorts) back in the day of Spice Girls and peace signs. Had to have Lisa Frank folders and accessories. I even had the leopard as a stuffed animal!

Anyone else have a Lisa Frank phase?
