Games That Kept Me Occupied in the 90s

I was thinking the other day about all the games that I used to love as a child. I was thinking about how kids these days almost all have iPads or other tablets and are obsessed with Angry Birds and whatnot...I wonder if they even play computer games anymore? I only know of a couple popular ones.
This isn't to say I wouldn't love an iPad, but if I could get my hands on these "old school" games I would definitely still be entertained for hours, even at 22 years old...

1. Spyro

2. Freddi the Fish

3. Pajama Sam

4. Barbie and Her Magical House

5. Putt Putt

6. Zoombinis

7. The Amazon Trail

8. Crash Bandicoot

*List doesn't include classics like Mario and Duck Hunt...or Sims, because I legit still play that*

Any other 90s kids remember playing any of these games?

Top 5 Tues: Summertime & PROM!

Happy MAY!

Happy second to last day of classes!

I'm sure you have seen this, but it cracks me up every time...I need to share:

Oh, J.T. I love ya.

Anyway, I'm celebrating with TWO link ups! They are so much fun and I want all of you to join in on the fun! The first is an oldie but goodie and the second one is a newbie!

First, time for Top 5 Tuesday!

Just Peachy

Best Things about Summer 2012

I don't have any huge plans/trips, but I am looking forward to some things!

1. My job!
I love my job.  During the school year it's so fun to hear about everyone's day, hang out during early releases and help with homework. But the summer is when the party happens! We have a summer-long theme, weekly lessons and field trips! I planned the week to learn about the 1500's (not very exciting but I found some neat crafts!) and that week we are going to a planetarium. PUMPED.

2. 3 days off of work for 4th of July!
The 4th of July is my second favorite holiday. Not only do I love America, but I love hot dogs.
KIDDING(but not)!
But seriously, it's my second favorite. I just love the cookouts, parades, fireworks, wearing red white and blue, etc! It's SO much fun as long as it doesn't rain because then I cry!!
Funny side story: I used to be terrified of fireworks...I mean, crying, hiding behind my mom, thinking I was going to DIE as they fell down from the sky onto me. Now I love them.

3. Splitting time in Martinsville.
Steven will be living in Martinsville so I spend a LOT of time there.
If you aren't familiar with the town, I'm not surprised. They have: 1 Applebee's, 1 Texas Steakhouse, a really sad mall that has a JCPenny Outlet (didn't know those existed), a Walmart (duh), Biscuitville - not sure what it is but I always sing it like Justin Timberlake on SNL singing "Bring it on down to Liquorville" and "Penny Bowling" which I will NEVER be brave enough to go into, among other random things.
It's kind of bare, kind of sketch, but it's home to summer baseball...so in that sense, I love it!

4. Country Music
I'm a big country music fan.  Nothing says summer like a little Jason Aldeeeeean filling the car.
Oh yeah, and I'll go ahead and add sun roofs open, road trips, late nights, flip flop tans and LILLY P at all possible moments.

5. Training for a Half-Marathon
I'm serious! The last one I did was freshman year and I am embarrassed. I want to run another so bad and I'm going to get up before work each day and run! I need a routine to make it happen.

What are you looking forward to this summer??

Now I'm also linking up for a little blast from the past!

With Tamara and Pamela!

Our prom is held in Commonwealth Ballroom on Virginia Tech's campus - for the Hokies out there, you know where I mean!
Every time I walk in there, I smile thinking of prom!

Junior Prom:

Steven asked me to prom junior year using the game "Up Words". He had it waiting in his trunk after school one day and when I opened the box, he had spelled out "Will you go to prom with me?"
I said yes, of course!
Steven and I were everything BUT dating at this point :)
I went with the short dress...definitely don't think I could fit into that baby today!
I really struggled with finding shoes to match. The ones I have on were a half size too small...they HURT.
We had dinner with a group of three other couples at one of the guys' house.
I had soooo much fun that night!

Senior Prom:

Afraid I'm gonna stick him with the boutonniere pin!

Steven asked me to prom senior year by writing on my car with window paint, "PROM?"
He surprised me by doing it while I was in work, so I walked out and saw it! Of course, I said yes.
Especially since we were definitely dating at this point :)
I chose a long dress for senior year, which I am happy with. A one-shoulder dress that had a long piece of fabric that went down the back from the shoulder...kind of hard to explain.
I had trouble with it fitting, though. I had to send it off twice to get it to fit! It was a bit too big when I bought it but I was running out of time.
Another girl dancing in our group had on my dress...AWKWARD and NOT OKAY.
I also stepped it up and got my hair done at the salon (did my own hair junior year...failed). It was so much fun and I love the way it turned out. Just FYI, I had 59 bobby pins in there!
We went to eat at The Farmhouse - a nice restaurant here in town.
Senior year was definitely better than junior year, as one would assume!

Both years we attended "after prom" and then crashed at home watching a movie. Both of our moms worked at after prom, so we knew we had to show up! At least to get our free t-shirt.
Senior year's was more fun that junior year but it's nothing too special so we didn't stay long.

I am so happy that I was lucky enough to spend BOTH proms with my sweet boyfriend :)
It's fun to think back to those nights, but also scary because it doesn't seem like that long ago...and it was!

Go dig up your prom pictures (or find on Facebook, like I did) & share!

Happy Tuesday!

What's Your Love Story?

Today's Day 8 topic for the Fabulous Valentine's Challenge is Love Myself.
I've decided to combine this with another link up, Our Love Story, with From Mrs. to Mama.
One of my favorite things about myself is my relationship with Steven, so I'll share that by answering these link up questions!
I hope some of you decide to join in, too! Don't worry - there are questions for the single ladies, too!

1. How long have you and your significant other been together?
4 years! We started dating in high school. Seems like forever ago.

2. How did you meet? [What's your "love" story?]
We technically first met in the 8th grade after Steven moved with his family to Virginia from Austin, TX where he grew up. We were on the same "team" (same set of four teachers) that year.  We started to "like each other" in high school and he asked me out on my birthday junior year. I (stupidly) said no - mostly because I was so nervous & not expecting it at all! I regretted it so much and we had a bit of a rough patch, but I made up for it by saying yes when he asked me to junior prom (he used an Up Words game...it was adorable). The rest is history :)

3. If married, how long have you been married? If not, is this the guy you hope to marry? [Do tell]
No, I am not married and yes, he is. I'm not sure I'd date the same guy for this long for nothing...

4. If you are married, where did you get married? Big or small wedding? If not, where would you like to get married? And will it be big or small?
I'm not, but when I do, I would like to get married in my church in my hometown.  It will probably be small-medium! You gotta keep your expenses in check!

5. Do you have any nicknames that you call one another?
Not really. The only ones that come to mind are I occasionally call him SB or Stebee Joe and he in turn calls me Sarah Lou.

6. Name 3 things you love most about your honey.
First of all, I don't like "honey"...maybe if I was 60 years old. Anyway, the top 3 things I love most are
1) People skills. He can hold a conversation with anyone...he'd probably talk to a tree if it would talk back!
2) His athleticism. There is nothing I love more than watching him pitch! I'm very proud of him.
3) He would do anything for anyone, no matter what. At the drop of a hat he is always willing to help out in any way he can and likes to make sure others are happy.

7. Tell us how he proposed? Or your ideal proposal?
He has not, but I have no idea what my ideal proposal would be! I've haven't really thought a whole lot about it, to be honest. I guess my "ideal" proposal would be a complete surprise. I love surprises!

8. Is he a flowers and teddy bear kind of guy for V-day or strawberries, champagne and rose petals?
Flowers and teddy bear. In fact, he actually got me a teddy bear our freshman year of college. I still have him on my bed!

9. Are you a sunset dinner on the beach kind of girl or pop a movie in and relax on the couch?
I might be the first if we lived at the beach, but I am definitely the movie on the couch kind of girl! I would much rather do that (for the most part) than go out to something fancy. However, to be honest, I usually end up falling asleep if we start a movie after 7 pm! Correction: I always fall asleep.

10. Tell us one thing you'd like to do with your significant other one day, if you could do anything? Go anywhere?
If I could go anywhere with Steven, I would choose a cruise! He's not so much into laying on the beach like I like to do, so I think a cruise would be a good mix because there would be lots of other things to do!

11. Tell us what you plan on doing this Valentine's Day.
I'm going to visit Steven this weekend (on Thursday) so we'll celebrate Valentine's Day a little early! We plan on going to the movies - either The Vow or Star Wars in 3D - going out to dinner and on Saturday we're going to a Philadelphia Flyers game!

12. Are you asking for anything for Valentine's Day?
To be in the same town as Steven. That is all.

13. Give us one piece of advice of keeping a relationship strong and full of love.
Stay silly. Life is too short to be serious all the time and fight over ridiculous things.
Be silly, be open with communication and never go to bed mad!

14. Show us a picture of what love means to you.

Okay, so as usual I can't pick just one! So here are my top 3:
high school
senior prom
an Edible Arrangement he sent me last year for my birthday :)

What's your love story?

Be sure to check out Crystal's blog and enter her Erin Condren giveaway!!

Lastly, I added a mini blog sale. Nothing too special and therefore nothing too expensive.
I'm just trying to clear out some things that aren't getting much use in my closet.
In the end, they're headed to Plato's Closet so I figured I'd throw it out there.

Happy Wednesday!

Friday's Fancies & The 5 Year Old in Me

First of all, I'm linking up with {av} from {long distance loving} for this week's Friday's Fancies! COLOR CRUSH! Today (and really all of the time) I am crushing on coral -- gold -- pearl. If it were summer time and I had somewhere fun to go, I would definitely recreate this outfit.
What color are you crushing on? Hop onto Polyvore & share!

Today is Friday the 13th! EEK! I'm actually kind of superstitious, but not with Friday the 13ths, more like with sports things or if I use a pencil for a test & did awesome I'll use it for the next one. Weird stuff like that.
Anyway, today is going to be anything but unlucky for me...
Here's why...

That's right. Beauty & The Beast is being re-released in theaters, today! If I'm being honest, I love Disney movies and Belle happens to be my favorite princess.

I was even Belle for Halloween one year:

I believe this is 1st grade!

It's in 3-D which I'm not totally thrilled about but I don't care! I've convinced Steven to go with me to a matinee showing and I cannot wait! Here's what I'll be wearing:

Thank you Forever 21!

Any other Belle lovers out there?

Halloween, back in the good 'ol days...

I thought I would share some "way back when" Halloween photos since Halloween day is right around the corner! I had a few on my computer already that I posted last year on Facebook. We have probably a million more in photo albums at home.
My family has always loved Halloween...decorating, going to pick out a pumpkin, listening to the Monster Mash CD (a serious favorite), watching Hocus Pocus, and dumping out our trick-or-treat candy - trading pieces, giving the malted candies to Mom. Now that we're older there isn't so much trick-or-treating going on, but we pretty much still do everything else! :) Mom found Hocus Pocus on DVD this year, so that was obviously very exciting having a 21st century version of a great movie!

*sorry, these are in no particular order whatsoever!

Little brother...I think he was supposed to be Batty?
Jason is eying the cake...
Indian, Frankenstein, Dalmatian
Pickin' out the pumpkin! Jason was such a goober.
The 'two child' days
Jason and Kelsey [family friend]. He wore that Halloween vest all the time!
Mouse (yes, it's a bunny costume but I'm pretty sure he insisted he was a mouse) and a Spice Girl
Clowns (I think this was more for fun one day)
Spiderman, toddler pumpkin, baby pumpkin
Third grade - Witches - my friend Mariana and her sister Juliana from Brazil
Magician and Belle - probably my favorite :)
Momma and baby clown, Kimberly the pink Power Ranger and a Ninja

I also remember being a "Hokie Freak" dressing in as much Hokie gear as possible - around 5th grade probably, a VT cheerleader, a black cat, "cloudy with a chance of rain" in high school with a friend (we wore shirts with cotton balls glued to them and carried spray bottles with water in it...lammeee)...I can't remember the others.

What were some of your favorite Halloween costumes over the years? Are you dressing up this year?

P.S. Next week (when I'm back home) I'll be doing the What's in my bag vlog! Right now I'm visiting the boy, so I don't have my normal bag with me...I've loved watching all the vlogs and I can't wait to share mine.

Happy Friday! :)

Thursday Trends: Lisa Frank

Do y'all remember Lisa Frank? I hope so, or else I'll feel a little awkward. This was my Vera Bradley (of sorts) back in the day of Spice Girls and peace signs. Had to have Lisa Frank folders and accessories. I even had the leopard as a stuffed animal!

Anyone else have a Lisa Frank phase?

Last day!

One Picture (of yourself):
Y'all know what I look like, so here's one from back in the day!

All done with the 10 Day You Challenge. I think it was pretty fun :)
I'm off to trek through the rain across campus! It's a yucky day here (to be walking around). I'll be blogging between class :)

xoxo,
