Fill in the Blank Friday!

Switching things up this Friday for Fill in the Blank Friday with Lauren @ the little things we do!

1.  My greatest strength is   my work ethic & creativity. I also do well with entertaining children...it never gets boring   .

2.   My greatest weakness is    worrying too much & trying to make everyone happy     .

3.  People always compliment me on     my handwriting & outfits    .

4. If you found me procrastinating you'd probably find me     on Pinterest or Netflix .

5. The most cozy place in all the world is   anywhere that i'm cuddled up with sadie & steven .

6. Something new that I tried recently was    mini babybel cheese...nom nom    .

7.  This weekend I would like to   see Lehigh beat Lafayette :)   .

This evening I am headed to an acapella concert with my friend, Brittany! The group we are seeing (a VT group) has been around a long time. I remember in high school going to watch them perform and now I still go to every concert as a college student! Lots of good memories :)

In the morning I am off to Pennsylvania for another weekend of double headers! As I said, Lehigh is playing Lafayette which is their big rival so it should be exciting.
While it is a long time in the car, I probably won't be able to see Steven for another four weeks due to Easter, HA obligations and Relay For Life.
That alone makes getting up at 5:00 am worth it.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Obs-essie-d

Okay, I know from reading other blogs and from looking at Pinterest boards that I'm not the only one who takes painting my nails seriously.
Let's be honest, it is serious business! I believe your nail color can tell a lot about you. When I'm perusing Target I find it a challenge to try and leave without a new Essie bottle. Recently, I found an Ulta store (something that SWVA is lacking) and spent 30 minutes trying to pick out a color...not because I didn't like any of them, but because I wanted all of them.

So, I admit. I am obsessed. With Essie.
Equals: "Obs-essie-d"

Here are some of my favorite spring colors!

movers and shakers

luscious lips

a crewed interest

haute as hello

looking for love

barbados blue

Later I'll have to do a post on all my favorites pinks!
Such as this one, pink-a-boo, from their new resort collection:

What's your favorite spring Essie color?

Happy Thursday!

Top 5 Tuesday: Things I Am Excited About For Spring!

What a wonderful season we have entered :) Even though summer is my favorite, spring is a close second because it leads up to summer! Here is what I'm excited to enjoy these next couple months!

Driving with the Windows Down + Country Music Blaring
I guess this goes with summer, too, but I'm a windows/sunroof girl, not an A/C girl. Yes, my hair looks like a hot mess afterwards but do I care?

Fruity Drinks
I'm not sure this needs explaining. Cheers!

Easter & Flowers
I love Easter time! Mass is always really special, plus getting some of those Reese's Pieces carrots doesn't hurt. When we were little we went on a scavenger hunt around the house to find our baskets. It was so much fun! Also, I love springtime flowers! So many colors and scents.

Baseball & Running
Yes, baseball season begins! I'm excited for the MLB regular season to being & I hope that just maybeee Steven and I can make it to a game. The summer will be crazy so it may be wishful thinking but who knows! I'm also getting back into running and spring brings lots of good races! I'm excited to pick some to enter!

Spring Clothes! And Lilly!
I am more than happy to put away the jeans and chunky sweaters and say hello to shorts and sundresses. I'm also planning to do a little closet revamp and get rid of some old dresses to make way for new ones! Plus, it's officially okay to break out the Lilly. Yippeeee!

What are your Spring favorites?

Happy Tuesday!

Baseball Weekend Recap

This past weekend I had the opportunity to go to Pennsylvania to watch Lehigh take on Binghamton. Although we left super early Saturday morning and came back super late Sunday evening, making for a very tired me, I was thrilled to see Steven. Plus I was due for some baseball watching! I hadn't seen any games sine California.

On Saturday the weather for the double-header was so-so (definitely not as nice as the spring weather we had been having all week in Virginia) but at least we brought some blankets to bundle up with!

That night Steven and I went to see The Hunger Games! We had both read the book and I'm glad we did. Overall, I was very pleased with the movie - even though the book is definitely better. It was almost 2.5 hours long but I still feel like it flew by!
I loved the look of the Capitol, everyone's costumes were amazing (although I think the actors looked a little plump for being starved in the book), and the action scenes were really neat.
I love that Stanley Tucci played Caesar...I think he was perfect! Effie's character was so cute/funny, however we argue that Peeta and Gale's actors should have been switched. Liam Hemsworth is way more buff/attractive which is what I think Peeta should be. I thought his actor was a little too wimpy.
I also think they should have ended it with more suspense! I like the last chapters of the book better than the ending of the movie.
Overall though, I loved it! I can't wait for the second and third ones.

Sunday was filled with another double-header and dinner at a diner.  I wish we could have had more "chill" time, but a quick trip is better than no trip in my opinion!
We got home super late, but I was able to sleep in the car so it wasn't a problem :)

Currently I am trying to stay awake through my classes, planning my courses for course request which is due tomorrow, already planning my room in my apartment for next year (SO obsessed and thankful for Etsy!), downloading music, making a grocery shopping list and trying to figure out when I can get in a run!
A little bit ADD this Monday!

I hope everyone has a great start to the week!

Friday's Fancies: March Madness!

HAPPY FRIDAY!
I am so happy that I made it to today. Yesterday's post so short & sweet because my day was crazy busy. I had class, online chats, info booths for Relay, work, our Hokie Ambassador date auction, hung out downtown with Brittany and the bake sale for Relay at night!
At least it wasn't a lot of "work" to be doing, just places to be.

Quick Sidenote:
Today is an awesome day in Blacksburg.
In support of VT Relay For Life, an event I am very involved with, our Moe's has generously offered that for today, 100% of the proceeds are going to VT Relay!!! 100%!!
In addition, the first 200 people in line are getting free burritos for a year. One a week, for a year.
As of 4:00 am there was already about 130 camping out downtown! It's INSANE! I'm so excited!
I'm going to do some crowd control later and obviously get me some Moe's...
if you are anywhere close to Blacksburg, you should stop buy and get something!

Now, today's Friday's Fancies is March Madness!
My school's team didn't make it in...womp. Steven's school did make it in - and beat Duke WHAAAAT - but unfortunately could not make it to the Sweet Sixteen.
Either way, I made an outfit for both teams :)
March Madness

The OPI polish for VT is Y'all Come Back Ya Hear? and for Lehigh is Suzi Loves Cowboys. I have both of these colors and love them!
Of course I had to add a bow for my hair...what's a sporting event without a bow?
Yes, it's called MARCH madness, but this weather has me dreaming of July! That's why I included shorts & Jacks for these outfits!
Lastly, no outfit is complete without some pearls.

Is your team still in? Hop over to Alison's blog to see other gameday outfits!

Happy weekend!

Top 5 Tuesday: Books (for kids!)

Linking up with Rachel from Just Peachy for Top 5 Tuesday!

This week's topic is Books.
I decided I want to share my top 5 favorite children's books!  As a child I loved books, at work I'm always reading to the kids and I have my own children's book collection started for when I become a teacher.  I ut together a mixture of classics & newer books.

1. The Berenstain Bears
Love this whole series! We had a lot of these books when we were younger. I love that most of them have a moral/lesson to go along with them. I pick New Baby because that was totally my big brother, as brother bear, and me as the new baby.

2. Llama Llama...
(misses mama, red pajama, mad at mama, home with mama, etc)
These books are so sweet. I love reading these out loud with all of the rhyming words! Llama llama is too adorable to not fall in love with.

3. If You Give a Mouse a Cookie
Again, I love this collection by Laura Numeroff! They are so fun to read and the kids eventually catch on (after reading it so many times) and they just know what's waiting on the next page. I especially love If You Give a Moose a Muffin :)

4. Miss Nelson is Missing!
I think this book is so funny. It's one of those books that really sticks out in my mind - I must have read it a lot when I was younger. I think every teacher should have this one!

5. Elephant and Piggie collection
My mom showed me these in Barnes and Noble about a month ago and I think they are so cute! They have a pretty big collection and I just think it's adorable that an elephant and a pig are best friends. The books are written with speech bubbles and have simple illustrations. Very cute.

What were some of your favorite children's books when you were a child?
Do you have any new favorites?

Happy 1st day of SPRING! :)

Lilly For Sale

Hi friends!

I didn't do too much this weekend which doesn't make for such an exciting weekend recap post.
On Saturday I went for a run, got some frozen yogurt with Mom & Sadie and babysat that evening! Not a lot of St. Patty's Day fun but I was happy with it :) The kids I babysit are so much fun...lots of Star Wars, Barbie Mermaid, Disney Princess & Disney shows. Any other babysitters watch "Victorious"? I admit that it's actually not bad...I was laughing out loud occasionally!
On Sunday I got some work done, planned my classes for my first semester of senior year (YAY!) and watched Lehigh, unfortunately, lose to Xavier. What a great run they had, though!

So, I just wanted to share that I have two Lilly pieces for sale ^^ up there on a page!
They are both size 6 and in great condition, just a tad too big for me!

What better way to welcome spring than with some Lilly?

If you are interested in either of them, leave a comment or send me an email! :)

Happy Monday!

Sunday Verse

I hope everyone has a wonderful, relaxing Sunday!
I started The Hunger Games yesterday so I'm sure I'll be reading a bunch today. So far so good :)
I want to finish it so I can go see the movie!

Happy 4th Sunday of Lent! How is everyone doing with their promises/sacrifices?

An Irish Blessing & Love for the Underdog

I hope you ALL have the luck 'o the Irish on your side today!
I'm writing my post in green, just to be safe.
Anyone doing anything fun?
I'm headed out for a run, a green treat somewhere and finishing the day babysitting!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now, I just have to add this in...who saw the Duke v. Lehigh game last night?
Can you talk about miracles?!
Lehigh is where Steven goes to school, so I was obviously watching and rooting for them. While I thought a win would be amazing, I didn't think it would actually happen!
It just goes to show...anything can happen and it ain't over, til it's over!
Congrats, Lehigh!

Lastly, don't forget about Sweet Tea Paperie's Fabulous Friday deal! Going on until tomorrow! Click on the picture to head on over :)

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Friday's Fancies: Luck of the Irish! + Sweet Tea Paperie Fab Friday!

I am happy to say that I'm a quarter Irish and I love St. Patty's Day!
My favorite thing to do is go to Macado's! They go all-out for St. Patrick's Day with traditional Irish snacks, green beer, and they have neat t-shirts and pint glasses you can buy.
Hopefully I'll get to go sometime on Saturday (even though I agreed to babysit that night)...maybe for lunch?

Anyway, if I were to be going out, here is what I'd wear:
St. Patty's Day

When I think of green, I think of gold, especially at this time of year!
I think this simple yet flirty outfit would be so fun to wear downtown...and it would leave you enough room to add some festive green beads!

What are my fellow Irish girls planning to wear out on Saturday?
Even if you aren't headed to a party - you better be wearing green so you don't get pinched!

I'm going to be honest - I do NOT wear a lot of green. For some reason it's just not a color that I think looks great on me. If I do wear it, I usually have another color on too -- like pink ;)

Lastly, to put a little pep in your T.G.I.F. step, go shop Sweet Tea Paperie for their Fabulous Friday deal!
25% off Boatman Geller Lucite Trays
with code FABFRITRAY
SO cute! Don't miss out!

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

It's Ok Thursday!

Hiiiiiii y'alllllllll!

I have been so exhausted this week and I just can't wait for the weekend! I'm going to {finally} sleep in, do some babysitting and just plain RELAX for a little bit. Oh yeah, and clean my HUGE mess of a room.

In the mean time I am linking up for It's Ok Thursday!

It's Ok...

...that I was "that girl' who listened to the meteorologist today who was WRONG about the temperature. Shorts in the rain isn't fun.

...that I'm not afraid to admit I am still scared of lightning. You will never see me run so fast than when I have to get from point A to point B outside when there is lightning. (At least I've gotten past the point of just sitting in the car like I did when my mom would go in the house fine and dandy and leave me to make a break for it.)

...that I gave my borderline anorexic roommate the water bill amount on piece of my "Keep Calm and Eat a Cupcake" note pad. Just trying to offer some nonchalant advice.

...that my March Madness involvement goes as far as filling out a mascot bracket. Who would win in a battle? I have the Grizzlies as 2012 champs. No idea what team that is...

...that in all seriousness, I will watch (and cheer on) Lehigh tomorrow when they play against Duke. Hey...anything could happen!

...to take study breaks every now and again, and by study breaks I mean "search for proposal/wedding entrance/surprise solider homecoming/cute baby youtube videos" breaks.

...to want EVERYTHING from Sweet Tea Paperie. That is the truth.

...that I'm just now getting back into a workout routine. Mom and I have planned a weekly her walk/I run evening on the Huckleberry. Now I just need to choose a race to plan for :)

...to be so confused yet so intrigued by the 35 tons of snow they are plopping on our drillfield today for a ski and snowboard competition. I'm going to try and sneak a peek.

...to feel so out of the loop because I haven't read The Hunger Games yet :( I own the first two, I just need to find time to read!

...that I'm still unpacking from Spring Break...it's a lengthy process.

...to already have summer plans on my mind :) only 8 more weeks of school!

Time to go fight through the rain and head to work!
Speaking of which, I am so glad to be back at work - going a whole week without seeing the kids was weird!
However, the little welcome back hugs made it worth it.

Yesterday I planned some St. Patrick's Day crafts and games to do with them, including this one that was so much fun:
I got a little teary-eyed when I read what some of the kids put!

Happy Thursday!
