Sunday Verse & Announcement
--------------------------------------------------------------
And announcing...HAPPY SHARK WEEK :)
Starts today on Discovery!
I've spent the weekend in Martinsville, hence the lack of posts. Hopefully I'll be back to regularly posting soon. It's also my last week of work (for the summer)! We are going to the lake on Tuesday, and the last day will be Friday. Good thing because I'm ready for a break!

Ten on Tuesday
1. What color are your toenails painted?
OPI Feelin' Hot-Hot-Hot! I love this one so much I keep repainting them!
2. What color are your fingernails painted?
Same as the toes! However, I just got a new OPI color that I'm going to switch to tomorrow...
OPI...even though it's certainly not the least expensive! (Unfortunately)
4. As the norm, do you DIY your nails or get mani/pedis?
Normally I DIY but I used to get them done a lot! Whenever I'm in the mood for a french manicure I get them done because I don't have that much patience (and my hands are shaky) to do them myself.
5. Have you ever had a gel mani? Do you recommend it?
I've only had acrylic but I heard gel are better for your nails!
6. What is the last movie you watched on television? (TV, Netflix, Redbox, etc.)
I'm watching 27 Dresses right now. Love this movie :)
7. What is the last movie you watched in the cinema?
Harry Potter 7 Pt. 2! The midnight showing in Norfolk, in fact.
8. Is there a movie that everyone talks about as if it is a classic but you haven't seen?
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang...The Goonies...A Christmas Story...SB teases me about this all the time!
9. What is your favorite movie soundtrack?
That's a tough one...The Sound of Music is a classic, but (i'm embarrassed) the Twilight saga movies actually have really good soundtracks!
10. Have you ever seen a movie and thought it was better than the book it was based on?
I don't think that's possible...
Y'all can still play along even though it's almost wednesday. Or save it for next week :)
Goodnight, all!

TLC Summer
One of my favorite TV channels is TLC. They have only a few shows that I'm not a fan of. It's 'TLC Summer' now and here are some of my favorites!
My first absolute favorite: Say Yes To The Dress
I cannot even imagine spending the amount of money that these girls do on a dress, but I lovvvve this show! I also like the Atlanta version and the Bridesmaids version :) I appreciate that the Atlanta girls kick out the fiance if the bride brings him...it's supposed to be a surprise!! I definitely want to bring a big crowd with me when it's my turn (since I'm so indecisive) I just hope I don't get stuck like some of the girls who are so excited in the fitting room and then their family hates it! Eek!
My second favorite: Cake Boss
Buddy and his family run a Bake Shop in Hoboken where they make absolutely amazing cakes! I love this show because, since it's family run, they are always teasing each other, playing pranks and arguing in their big New Jersey accents. It's hilarious to watch and looks like so much fun.
Aren't those amazing? I definitely recommend this show if you haven't seen it :) Buddy also has Kitchen Boss now which is his own cooking show! Lots of italian favorites.
My third favorite: The Little Couple
Bill and Jen are such a great couple, and they have super successful lives even though they're under 4 feet tall! Jen is a doctor and they are trying to start a family now. They've gone through a lot to get pregnant - I feel sorry for them! But they hardly ever get mad, they're always in such good moods. I love to watch them! And I love Jen's laugh. It's a laugh that makes me laugh. I want to know them in real life!
My fourth and final favorite: Surprise Homecoming
You know when you're bored and you look up warm & fuzzy videos on youtube? Like proposals and homecomings? Maybe that's just me, but anyway this is a whole hour! If you haven't seen this, I warn you...grab some Kleenex! Billy Ray Cyrus hosts this homecoming show about military men and women coming home early and surprising their family members. The first episode I watched with Mom was the week before James came home. It definitely pumped us up for his homecoming (even though it wasn't a surprise)!
These are just four of my many favorites on TLC! What do y'all like to watch throughout the summer?
happy weekend :)

Recent Obsessions: Pintrest Edition.
Call me crazy, but I could spend days browsing through pictures and ideas and boards on Pintrest. Enough that I have found pins of all my favorite things (as of today):
Getting Back Into Shape
I wouldn't say I'm totally out of shape, but I'm not in half-marathon shape. Which is where I would like to be. The next 1/2 that I want to run is in April, but I would like to find some long distance races in between to keep me goal-oriented!SB
He is always on my favorite things list, but this week especially. It's been a summer of unexpected situations, but he has always found a way to reassure me that everything will be okay. Whether it be something he said or did, at times when I thought I was 'doomed', he turned my frown upside down :)
And last night, he got the win against Gastonia!
*The picture is because he is originally from Austin and whenever I see/hear Texas I naturally think of him.
Navy Stripes
I love Navy Stripes! I wish I had this exact outfit to wear to the pier on Friday, but I don't. I'm hoping I can find something in Short Pump on Wednesday that is similar! I'm not a huge stripes person normally, but I love them if they're red or navy. Very nautical. You can pair it with gold or silver jewelry which is nice since I'm always switching it up.
Everything About This Pin
I am so excited to go to Norfolk later this week, partly because I get to go to the beach! I haven't been to the beach since last summer (unless you count January...I don't!) I'm so ready to lay on the sand with my new Vera Bradley towel...and then run and jump in the water & never get out.
I also love the colors & fonts in this pin. I wish I could blow it up on a canvas for my new beach-themed yellow room. It would be perfect! I'll work on that.
Angel Food Cake + Strawberries + Cool Whip
This is one of my favorite desserts, especially in the summertime! Today it hit me (random craving) that I really wanted to have some. Mom & I were already headed to the Verizon Store so we headed over to Kroger and got the ingredients, along with some dinner from the Bistro! After The Bachelorette is over (it's on in the background!) I'm going to serve some up :)
Well, like I said, The Bachelorette is on & I have an assignment for my online class to get finished by midnight, so I better scoot.
If y'all are in the mood for some happy tears, don't miss Surprise Homecoming on tonight at 10:00 (eastern time) on TLC!! Right after T.B. It's going to get me in the mood for Friday. so. pumped.
:)

One Lovely Blog
Today I received the One Lovely Blog award from Shelby at Sweet Confessions ! It means a lot to me that other people are reading what I write and looking at all the silly, random pictures I post and appreciating them! Thanks Shelby for the award and the support :) Who knew blogging could be so fun!
Here are some fun pictures I took the past couple of days:
Our field trip this week was to the Motor Mile Speedway. The kids had a blast (mostly because they had a pretty awesome playground) but unfortunately there weren't any drivers and the kids weren't allowed down on the track! That was a bummer but it made Ms. Sarah add "Attend race" to her bucket list for sure.
I learned I can pick one color on my camera for it to separate from black and white. Cool or weird?? I think it's pretty cool!
SB got in to pitch.
Color effects + Action shot...
Jessi & I went to Panera today (which for us is no shocker...we live there) and I got a frozen strawberry lemonade. Holy smokes, it was delicious! Then, after finishing some painting, we got The Switch from Redbox and then ordered Olive Garden To Go! ... wowzers, I will be needing to hit up Jazzercise for sure next week but it was so delicious! I've never ordered it to-go before...definitely worth it.
My items from Vera Bradley came in the mail yesterday. Perfect timing, if you ask me. I got this beach towel in Blue Lagoon for when I spend my one, precious day on the shore next Thursday:
I also got this hard eyeglass case in Make Me Blush for my new glasses that, coincidentally, were also ready to be picked up yesterday!
Pretty excited! Mom also got a coin purse in Simply Violet to hold all of her various cards!
I hope y'all have a wonderful weekend :) I'm getting to the second coat of paint tomorrow & then heading down to SB's game in North Carolina!
xoxo

Beachy Keen
In exactly ONE WEEK I'll be standing on the pier (with my red, white and blue lei on) in the Naval Base waiting for the USS Enterprise to dock and release 5,000 sailors and marines -- one of which is my big brother!
We are going to leave Blacksburg on Wednesday to hit up the Short Pump area to get some shopping done, spend the night, and then head to the Va Beach area on Thursday morning so we can go to the beach!
We used to live in Virginia Beach and pretty much the only thing I miss about it is being so close to the water. I absolutely LOVE the ocean. I think that I (along with many other people) could spend all day every day on the beach if I could!
Since Blacksburg isn't near the beach, I have brought the beach to Blacksburg. My bathroom is coral color and decked out in beach things. Now, my room will join. It started out as a light blue (actually pretty beachy to start with) but I am going to repaint it Gold Buttercup this weekend!
Then, I'm going to start looking for more beach decor to add to the room, keeping it fun to look at but still simple. I will update with some pictures later :)
Have y'all seen any cute beach theme decor anywhere? I'm going to try and find some pieces in Short Pump! I can't wait!!

Patience, patience, patience, is what the sea teaches. Patience and faith. One should lie empty, open, choiceless as a beach--waiting for a gift from the sea.xoxo
